Default What direction would a revised Tau Codex go?

Now that the 5th edition has all but been officially confirmed- what do you think the Tau will do in a new codex (i can't believe i'm thinking about this right after they gave us a new one and not the DE)

but hey- we're more popular

So- new units? new upgrades? new characters (please oh god please)?

Try and think from the point of view of GW (no snide comments please) which means no Tau titans or Chaos Tau factions or (blah blah blah).

I like to think that Fireblade would be a new character- or even just an infantry hero (like Kais only thought out).

There's already a thread floating around the Tau board about this...I'll probably edit this to show some other stuff later.

edit- You're asking what we THINK will happen, not what we want. My mistake. I still don't really have anything to contribute, especially because I don't really have the experience to compare between Codices. I'm still thinking, I'll have something...

Less choices. Either this setup or that..

Like you get to choose between burst cannon, plasma rifle and multi tracker OR Fusion Blaster, missile pods and targetting array. And so on....

With the new setup, i belive they will ruin most of the tricks we can pull off... Probably worse uppgrades too.

I like the codec like it is right now. It could have had a bit more diversity in the HQ and troops selecion and theres probably space enough to put a couple extra pages of fluff in.

let's see... what do I want... *takes out wishlist*

1) special issue items to either become "regular" or taken off the list (to show that they've been thoroughly tested and have either become standard issue wargear or found to not be up to par)
2) XV22 commander
3) Tetras :
4) Customizable drones (change pulse carbine for something else at a cost, like flamers and whatnot, make 'em a troops choice)
5) Swordfish? ???
6) A defensive upgrade that turns stunned into shaken result (I mean come on, almost every army has them :\)
7) Holo fields. No, I kid. We don't need those. #6 would be plenty.
8) More weapon options for the Devilfish (am I being too greedy?)
9) Flamer Piranhas?

That's all I can think of. Surely some demands might be over the top, but I think they're alright... >>;

That is the question. Not what you would like to see.

[hr]

---I think that GW may nerf Missile Pods, or increase their points cost, the 'Deathrain' suit is very powerful as good as a mobile Autocannon and well look at the zone of threat.

---I think we will get another new character, however GW will make it an Auxiliary and they will try to make it a support character and fail.

---Firewarroirs will get a couple extra pieces of wargear (stealth gens perhaps???)

---One new auxiliary race AND a bit more for the Vespid (the new race will be rather rubbish like the Vespid atm).

---Skimmers make lose their nifty shooting rules however this might not happen.

---Vre's will get access to the armory full stop and multiple SI equipment will be available along with another piece of kit.

---and GW will screw over fluff making it look fanboyish and more to do with those damn orks again (when we all know the orks are flipping being exterminated time and time again).

/rant

Have a nice day,

I don't think they would do that, there are too many combinations with Crisis Suits for GW to narrow it down to a select few configurations, and GW know that very well, especially when they wrote the first Crisis Suit tactica...

i think the piranha could use some better weapons, preferably with longer range
in fact, some longer range weapons in general
i don't mean basilisk-range weapons, just imperial-heavy-weapon-team range

and the rail rifle needs to be a sniper weapon

and last (probably not) but not least (maybe), the tau need some elite choices with actual skill (imperial assassins make me sad )

Really? My Commander's notorious for killing them in droves...

[hr]

We will get special rules that override other army's special rules. Because I'm sick and tired of getting the short end of the stick in that respect.

We will be able to pin Fearless units. No, it will not be broken in the slightest.

I can't think of much else that I'd change. Maybe a few marginally more useful options for commanders, Shas'ui and the like. And certain Special-Issue stuff should become available in multiples to squadron leaders/commanders, perhaps with different statistics.
