Default Fish O Fury

Ok, so I've read some stuff on this and it looks really interesting, however, I am still skeptical. (New Tau player here) A devilfish is pretty much a skimming rhino right? I don't see that as being a very safe transport. How does that work? Do you see lots of Devilfishes stunned or worse but round two? Or do your opponents just ignore them? Also if a skimmer is stunned does that mean its is now sitting on the ground?

It's like a rinho with better armor and if it moves over 6" you can only hit it on a 6, You need 2 Fishs to perform the FoF and i am curently looking for a link that explains the FoF alot better than i can.

here we go, written by myself!

Not to worry about devilfish survivability...you will be moving over 6" a turn to ensure only galancing hits, decoy lauchers re-roll of you blown up due to immobilisation....and solid front armour and respectable side armour means that our devilfishes are probably the safest dedicated transports in the game except for wave serpents!

any questions? if not then i will lock

The durability of the Devilfish comes from 4 factors:

First, it's AV12. It may not seem like much, but the extra point of armor over a Rhino is a HUGE deal!

Second, any skimmer that moves >6" (which you should ALWAYS do!) can only be glanced. Period. Meltagun within 6" rolled boxcars for armor penetration? Yup, it's a glance.

Third, any vehicle that moves >6" (which you should ALWAYS do!) forces your opponent to hit on 6's in close combat. Combine that with the fact that any hits they do manage to score can only be glancing, and you're starting to see the picture.

Fourth, Decoy Launchers force your opponant to re-roll results of immobilized. Since immobilizing a skimmer that moves > 6" (which you should ALWAYS do!) causes it to be destroyed, this is a good upgrade to have... espcecially considering it's only 5 points.

All these factors combine to make the Devilfish (and even moreso Hammmerheads) the second most durable vehicle class in the game... second only to the Eldar Falcon.

I thought the 4th edition rules says that immobilized vehicles don't blow up anymore. They just float to the ground.

also, you don't really need 2 Fishes to execute a FoF...though 2 does make it a little more effective...

And realise also that the Eldar Serpent can be used to similiar effect...

if they have moved 6" or less yes they will float to the gorund, however if you move at 12" per turn not only do you get the massive boost of only glancing hits, but with your decoy launchers you only have a 1 in 36 chance of being blown up by immobilisation! not bad! questions answered now? feel free to carry on if not!
