Default TA or BASS?

Without fielding any marker lights, which would you take on a two man Broadside team, Targeting Array or A.S.S.?

I would go for the A.S.S., even though I've missed with my TL Railguns more often than I'd like to remember.

Neither both a waste of points.

As mentioned being TL should be enough to hit and if you deploy your Broadsides correctly in the first place you shouldn't have to move them.

I usually go with A.S.S. as you never know when you'll need to move and get a new angle to shoot. It also allows you to start the game behind cover, then move out and shoot. However if I know I'll be holing an area with them, I just go with TAs.

When I have used my broadsides I used A.S.S instead of the TA. Like The Orange said it can help you start them behind cover. Because even if equipped with 2 shield drones, a good first turn volley can take em down and I would have them alive.
Also I use it because of Moral reasons. Because they are slow but ponderous if they fall back, instead of rolling 2d6 and using that, you use the slow but ponderous rule, 2d6 take the highest. As an added bonus, hey can also still fire their heavy guns while falling back too.

Two man? Depends on the rest of the army. If Im fielding three BS teams, I can generally rest assured of covering the field well, so mobility isn't as important. Lets me do some diversity...ASS is generally only useful if that BS team is your only unit(say, you're running sniper drones and such, so you desperately need mobile HS).

TAs are fun, but it's generally better to add suits first instead of taking those...TAs are a lot of points for whatcha get from a broadside.

No, the wargear I'd tend torward would be either a MT for sheer firepower, or a DC/shield drones. Possibly one of each. Shield drones are extremely frustrating to some opponents, and if they don't shoot at your precious BSes as a result, they've done their job.

Yea I'm with Tyndmyr, shield drones are a must, and the first thing I get for my BS. Though I always get them through a hard-wired DC on a team leader.

a.s.s for the reasons listed. Its not about what it lets them do when things are going right, its about the advantages it provides if things start going wrong (like a slower fall back and still being able to shoot, remember that drones count for working out casaulties from shooting when making break tests, so a two man team with two drones only has to lose one drone before it starts to run the risk of running off the table)

My subtle diagram disagrees with you.
your "subtle" diagram contains Optimus Prime and Proffessor Farnsworth, it's heresy in it's own right!
Any similarities between your reality and mine are purely coincidental...

actually they count as in cover for movement purposes, so to fall back you roll the 2d6 then half it as if you were falling through cover with a normal
