Default Tau Crisis Suit Hardpoint/Hardwired

I've got a rules clarification issue I was hoping you guys could help me with. In the crisis battlesuit profile, there is a category for Hard Point options, under which there is a list of options, (flamer, burst cannon, multi tracker, etc.). The profile says that the suit must fill all three hard points. In the front of the codex there is a section called Hard-Wired support systems, there is a list of options (multi-tracker, target lock, blacksun filter, drone controler), and each battlesuit may have not more than one of each system and may not have duplicates. My question is this, since all three hardpoints must be filled, and some of the upgrades are listed as both hard points and hardwired, is it possible to take three options from the hard-point list, and then take options from the hardwired list. For example, is it possible for a battlesuit to take a fusion blaster, a plasma rifle, and a missle pod, and then have a "hardwired" target lock?

The only way this can be possible is if you spend the +X point to upgrade him to team leader or the +X to shas'vre.

Only the team leader or shas'vre (and the commander obviously) are allowed to take hard-wired gear.

Exactly. Just as Boneguard said, only models with access to WARGEAR can take hardwired systems.

When you look at the Battlesuit armoury, you`ll see three paragraphs:

Weapons, Support systems, wargear.

Weapons and support systems take hardpoints, and since all three hardpoints need to be filled, they are mandatory choices.

Wargear is for "leaders", and can only be given to models if it is explicitely stated (i.e. Teamleaders, Crisis bodyguards, etc.).

Furthermore, some equipment (in all three sections - wargear, weapons and support systems) is marked with a *. This means special issue, and only certain models (namely: Crisis Vres and Commanders) hav access to them, and they are only avaiable once per army.

I hope this clears all the confusion.

Cheers,
-Bone

As per the stuff in bold, I have a fairly good indication here that you are using the old, 3rd ed. codex. You need to get yourself the updated "Tau Empire" codex.

I'm actually an Eldar player, I was asking on behalf of a buddy of mine, we played a game today and there was a bit of confusion. Thanks a lot, I'll be sure to let him see your answers.

You can actually take hardwired devices for infantry, like FWs. It's only about 2pts each i think.

I thought the rule was that hardpoint/hard wired stuff was only accessible to people in suits (XV25, XV88 etc) and then certain stuff could be equipped to a shas'ui in a fire warrior squad or have I read this wrong?

their interface allows it, but its more of a infantry level ability so they can conduct better ground communication.

Depends on the device. They range from 0 to 5 pts, with the DC being 0, then the BSF and EMP being 3, and everything else being 5 IIRC.
