Default The mysterious third auxiliary race

While reading up on the Medusa V and other major tau campaign events on wiki, I stumbled upon the Tarellians. I was wondering if anyone had more info on them and I was also wondering if there was any rules on using them.

Nope. they're a race of lizardmen with dog-like faces (hence dog soldiers) that like to augment themselves heavily with cybernetics.

They're not too fond of humans as an Imperial crusade nuked all their homeworlds. tau use them as mercenaries, but keep them away from the gue'la.

No, there are no rules. No, there probably wont be any.

And there is a picture of one in the 3rd ed rulebook.

They are the grey warriors, ashen like the wolf, whose greatest joy is to hear the clamour of steel amidst the din of war. None can step before them, they are the first, proud in their strength and jealous of their renown. Through the storms of the warp they come, upon the very tides of terror, but of such dangers they are uncaring. They are the Space Wolves, the Undefeated, the bane of the Emperor's foes."

They feature in the novel Kill Team if you're interested in knowing more. Alternatively, there's some house rules for using them on the main website here (although they should really have Preferred enemy: Imperials).

Yeah, right. If that's the case, then the Imperials deserve Preferred Enemy: Everyone and Everything.

Well by that token, nobody should have preferred enemy: blank at all, since they all hate each other. Tarellians hate humans more than anything, especially Imperial ones. They make themselves very much available to fight humans, so would have loads of experience against them.

It makes sense to me.

Nah, some of those Imp. jump ships to the Tau side every now and then, so...

The mysterious third auxiliary race?

They mean after the:
- Kroot
- Vespids
- Nicassar
- Demiurg
- Humans
- Galg
- Tarellians
- Them little psychic people from Killteam
- Orks

Note that the last three there appear to be mercenaries for the Tau Empire, hired specifically for Brightsword's army in Killteam, and not expressly a part of the Tau Empire. The Demiurg are much closer to the Tau than just mercenaries, and the Kroot, Galg and Nicassar are all proper member species.

There's alot more than three auxiliaries!

Dont forget the Aslan lionheaded auxillaries, and the skink-lizardman auxillaries...

... Of Shas'El Taels' collection, of course! Honestly, after seeing his models of those... I just cant shake the notion that they are official. ;D

I thought that the humans, demiurg and tarellians that worked with the tau army were also proper races, not just mercs. according to the wiki the tarellians were some of the first aliens to join the greater good and some of the demiurg brotherhoods have pledge themselves to the greater good. As for the humans, well there are the gue'vesa who are accepted as proper citizens of the empire.
