ninja'o fof?

Ok guys, I may not be the first to propose this. but I havent seen it anywhere else.

So I have recently come to FULLY understand the rules of the hit and run rule. Suddenly my ninja'o seems alot more effective! I was just thinking of using a ninja'o in conjunction with a Fof.

The ninja'o would ENSURE that the unit would not be able to assault the firewarriors, allowing the Fof to be used effectively against enemies that can fleet or have a long assault range, etc. Then the firewarriors could rapid fire again after the ninja'o uses his hit and run move.

I could see this being extremely effective against large ork mobs, gaunt units, mass conscript squads, or even some dedicated close combat squads. Even 2+ saves will fail when 20-or-so checks are forced.

Is this a good idea, or am I focusing on single squads to much?

I think you may be singling on a single squad too much. And the purpose of the FoF (In my opinion) is that you want them to assault through your tanks with Fletchette Dischargers. As Tau tanks do better in CC than Fire Warriors... And you could always use the Ninja'O with Stealth Suits if you really wanted to (A lot more shots for a maxed out squad).

? Maxed out Stealt suits = 18 shots
Maxed out Fof w/fish = 29 shots

I honestly think it's a great idea (and not just because I am working on trying something similar myself). There are some times that having the big fish in front just isn't enough. Just be careful trying to slow down dedicated cc units, all it takes is one hit from a power klaw...

The flechette dischargers I haven't tried. Interesting... I may try that sometime soon. Can't right now as I'm running Pinto fish (DL nothing else) to save points.

Wait, what? They can't assault through your tanks. Ever. The only reason they might charge them is to get a little extra movement. The only purpose of the FoF is to make it impossible for the unit you are firing at to charge you in the next turn.

If you are supporting a unit of Fire Warriors with a Ninja'o, you still want to be careful not to get too close, just in case the Shas'O dies. Nested Power Fists tend to be a problem in a lot of front-line squads you might be using the FoF against. The Ninja'O is normally used more against Heavy Support or other infantry units you don't want shooting.

Not through; If they try to assault, then they have to go through the 'fish first and get hit by the Fletchette Dischargers. That's what I was trying to say. (Not a good day for me as far as speaking goes...)

For clarity, even if they try to assault the Fire Warriors, they can only be hit by the Flechette Dischargers if they explicitly choose to charge the tank as well.

If you gave all the Stealth Suits DC's two GD's each you would get 30 shots.
