Default Tau Broadside - Bladestorm Pattern

I had an idea for a broadside with TL Long-Barreled Burst Cannons and Plasma Guns. It would be very effective at taking out troops and light vehicles. I will probably do this conversion in the not-so distant future.
I photoshopped this to give a sense of what it would be like:

What do you think?

I like the idea, but what would it count as? Maybe even make it Heavy Burst Cannons (S6 AP4)?

I think it would count as a broadside, since only one weapon has been changed. It would maybe be +10 points on top of the plasma guns, maybe no extra cost.
Are heavy burst cannons real/legal weapons? I've never heard of them before.

That looks awesome! Nice photoshopping work there!

Rules/fluff-wise - Broadsides in their current form are an Anti-Tank unit, with their secondary systems able to take out either light or heavy infantry. A Broadside with TL-LB-Burst Cannons would I be purely anti-infantry goodness, although it doesn't output all that many shots each turn. Perhaps, as suggested above, making them Heavy Burst Cannons or something similar - as other Tau units basically fill the same Anti-infantry role, perhaps doing a better job, e.g. Stealth-suits and Fire Warriors.

Actually, I might convert this someday, and make it an anti-medium/heavy infantry specialist.

Forgeworld Heavy Gun Drones have them I think. It's in Imperial Armour. Though it's not in the main 40k ruleset.

Edit: nope, Heavy Gun Drones just carry standard Burst Cannons.

The long-barreled weapons was first introduced in the VDR (Or, as my understanding goes) as well as Mega weapons and Gatling and other such things. Funny how this is the second time today I've referred to the VDR today... Pretty much the Mega weapons is the same thing that I'm referring to with the Heavy weapons.

Sorry to disappoint you, but they are just regular Twin-Linked Burst Cannons...

It looks cool, but it isn't really a broadside. It looks more like a pimped up crisis suit to me. seeing as tau have more mobile contenders for heavy support that can take out hordes, i don't see it being used. Maybe put it as an upgrade for a crisis team shas'vre or something

I agree with fatboy5, if you're taking a comparatively immoble broadside in a HS slot, there are a lot better guns than burst cannons that you could put on it. You could produce something similar if you made a house rule where you could fill the fourth hard point for reduced JSJ movement like Irridium Armor.

The only problem is, this unit has 4 weapons (2 twin-linked). A normal XV-8 can only carry 3. Also, i think this unit would be able to replace plasma with fusion.

Replacing a TL Railgun system with a TL Long-Barrelled Mega-Burst Cannon shouldn't be hard. It's also a rocking idea (I love Burst Cannons! :funny.

ive always taken a page out of the relic burst cannons. on the stealths you have the lighter-normal burst cannons but on the Crisis teams they, in essence, have rending.

I like the idea of a Broadside pattern being able to deal with infantry (i would say a desperation measure- you could get some interesting fluff) and give them 2 rending burst cannons (6 shots total) with the plasma rifles as opposed to the upped strength and armor piercing (can you just make them LB?)
