Default multi-trackers on devilfish

I'm trying to fine tune a 1500 pt list and the last ??? is a choice between 2 extra seeker missles OR multi-trackers on my 2 fishes. It seems to me that a fish without a MT would never get to fire its BC ( or mounted drones PC's ) because I don't plan on moving them less than 6" EVER. ( I played Eldar for years and know how to keep skimmers alive ).

Do players generally take a MT for fishes?? and if not when do you get to use the BC and drone guns?

Personally, I wouldn't bother.

I always do. If you're equipping BC, got with the MT. If you want to use SMS, the tactic is to try to get out of LOS or Hull Down so you can use them, the latter case to be blocked from one facing and have a bit of LOS from the main gun to somewhere else.

IMO if you are planning on executing a FoF adding multitrackers adds a helpful 20% to the number of shots put out, so they should be a good investment.
Aunla- were you referring to a smart missle system ( SMS )? I'm just thinking about my fishes here- my HH will always have a MT.

When it comes to Multi-trackers on Devilfish, it's all about personal taste. For me, if I have extra points, and it's a toss up between bonding a squad or throwing a multi-tracker on my Fish, then I'd go for the multi-tracker because it will give me another 5 shots. If I'm battling Marines, or other power armor, I don't bother with the Multi-tracker on the Fish because I generally will not use it to be close enough, but against other armies with lesser saves, the extra points for a multi-tracker can really pay off as they work time and time again and busting 2 enemies models generally pays for the upgrades right away.

Here's the way I see it. A firewarrior costs you the same as a Multi-tracker on that Fish. But the multi-tracker is adding 5, S5 AP5 shots at longer range than the 2 S5 AP5 shots that the Firewarrior would be giving you. That's more than double, so to me it's obvious. It's worth it.

If your Fish is just to move you around the board quickly for missions, not just aggresive tactics, then don't take the Multi-tracker because if you're not going to be within 18 inches of an enemy with that Fish, then there's no reason to fire.

But one thing for sure--if I invest in the Multi-tracker, I take Targetting Array too to make the most of it. For just a tad more, we get -a lot- better odds of making good use of that multi-tracker and drones.

its personal choice, I dot like making the fishes that are already a target for anyone that knows anything about mechtau more expensive, VP's are extremely important in 4th.

but if you look at it that for 15pts (MT always comes w/ a TA ) you get 3 BS4 shots, you've got a bargain, I just dont like where that bargain is sitting ^-^

i'd take it whenever possible to spare the points. If not, that's ok. For your decision, do you have any PFs? If you have PFs i'd take the seekers, otherwise the MT

who would take seekers without PF's ^-^.

but it does provide a use for the fish while the PF are on the ground a BS4 BC could be useful, depends on the list, slap us a list up and I can advise better.
