Default Painting Tau BFG

I think this is the right place for this, if not the BFG forum, but I think it's more Tau than BFG.

Here's the score:

My Tau battlefleet is on the way. All 2,000pts of it. Forgeworld stuff.

I'd really love to paint it in the colours of my own Sept, Shas'etra. However, I looked over my fleet list and the realisation came to me that in that fleet it was probably about half of the Empire's whole new wave of ships (i.e. the Forgeworld stuff).

So it's a bit odd that that would be all from a Sept that, because it's not official, is unknown.

My initial idea was to just paint a small detachment (maybe a battleship and a couple of cruisers... trust me, that's a small detachment) in my Sept's colours, and paint the rest in T'au colours, or in a mix of T'au and the colours of the other Septs. Or should I just do it all in my own Sept and throw the "realism" out the window?

Crikey! This crazy clown causes commotion like the coming of Christ. Contained in a circle corrupted by crackheads and carnal cravings, he creates no concession to callous cheaters concentrating on nought but cock. Certainly, still a curious and cordial cavalier in the countenance of crazed cads, curs and creeps who condemn courtesy as something corny. No cloud could collapse his crushing crescendo of comical crowing and crimson coiffure. This conjecture on culture comes circumlocutive, consequently...

Tau ships can be what ever color you want. My Kor'o is going to the same color as my army as a tribute to my cadre's success. However, originally all Tau ships were white (and ugly), but the newer Kor'or'vesh ships are the color of the sept. As for painting them, use drybrushing liberally. It makes painting go super fast.

BFG in my opinion doesn't need fluff so throw it out the window baby or if you really want say they where ships you managed to repair after a battle and was able to keep them or something.

I say realism be damned, their your models, so paint them the way you want. Besides you could always say that your fleet comes from a time line when the new wave of Tau ships becomes more abundant.
