I don't see why not. Though I don't think it'd be beneficial in the long run...

The Tau still don't have a clear handle on psykers and the warp. For the Gue'vesa to use one, enough of the command structure would have needed to turn for their to be officers who understand the risks and uses of Pyskers. And over time, I have to think Gue'vesa psykers would be more vulnerable to possession, without the strict eye of the Commissars and their own command structure keeping watch.

I think that it is a good approach to how to use actually the Sanction Psyker rules, but it doesn't really address the original question.

This topic was also covered in General: http://forums.tauonline.org/index.php?topic=52412.0
As well as a poll here: http://forums.tauonline.org/index.php?topic=54421.0

I still say that it is doubtful that they would hire psyker...too risky.

Okay guys. Thanks for the replies. I asked the question because I was writing a book and wanted to know if I could have a Gue'vesa psyker in it.

I think it would be okay, but you would probably want to address some of the difficulties with it. Sanctioned Psykers are subject to a great deal of oversight to make sure their powers are kept in check. If their regiment defected to the Tau, they would be faced with the dissolution of most of that oversight. Their powers could be unleashed without fear of the Inquisition or the Commissariat taking notice. This would make them more vulnerable to mental breakdowns, however, along with possession. And this could lead to tension between the Tau and the Psyker's regiment.

I doubt they would use them in combat. I detect heavy heavy research by Tau. Low torture. Unless they blow up or whatever.

Tau really want to know more about the Warp.

Well Tau already have a relationship with a highly psykic race (The nissicar) however there isent much information on the nissicar or how vunerable they are to possesion (and thus how much the tau realy know about psykers)
