Default Shield Drones

There are no dedicated Shield Drone models so what would you use to represent them?

WHAT? Do you even have the codex, or the rulebook, or have taken a look at the GW site, searched in google... do you even know what are the tau?

They are included with the old XV-15 Shas'vre, the pathfinder Shas'ui, O'Shaserra, Tau army boxes and from direct order in any GW website.

Thanks for your reply it was very usefull, I do hope it was a little 'tongue in cheek' though!

Yes I do have a Tau army (3000pts) and codex and even own a games shop selling the stuff! ;D

My background is historical gaming and I am trying to master the intricacies of 40K at the moment.

I have looked on the GW web site for the spare bits but can't find them, I will have another look.

I need 14 Shield Drones for my Apocalypse army for our first game next Sunday and we have a postal strike on at the moment!

Sorry, but I was a bit incredulous with all the issue. In any GW website just go to the online store and search for "shield drone" (is as simple as that). At the worst, if you can't find them (or have them delivered to you), the easiest way to scratch built one is to attach a crisis suit shield generator to the bottom of a drone dome, and add two gun drone antennae instead of just one.

...And the lazy way to do it, if you don't happen to have dozens of Crisis shield generators, is to just use gun drones without the guns and an extra antenna.

I agree with the rest - scratchbuilding your Shield Drones is, most probably, the best choice. Just make sure to keep a uniform look throughout your army, and that there is no mistaking them for other Drones.

Cheers,

With my XV-88-2's shield drones, I copied the model from the codex artwork where the Aun and XV8's are jumping out of the orca.

Take one drone top, and add the little nobby bit from the multitracker (minus the antenna) to the bottom, as the emitter array. Then add 2 drone antenna to the top, and voila, one easy shield drone.

No the lazy way is to not use any antenna :P ;D. I don't like my drones looking like bunnies (though I did at least add the XV8 shield bit to the bottom).
