Default New Rapid Deployment Force (Devilfish)

Here it is! http://us.games-workshop.com/games/4...h_squadron.pdf

Contains rules for three Devilfish in Apocalypse.

Extra non-Tau datasheets also available here - http://us.games-workshop.com/games/4...ts/default.htm

Hmmm. Instant, multiple unit FoF....

I freaking love. Shame its apoc only, as that would murder just about anyone in a normal game, but won't do a lot to a Titan....

Nice. Its good they are bringing out new datasheets this soon.

Oh, and this is also posted somewhere else, Gen 40k I think.

The only problem is that ya cant deploy within 12", so instant FoF wont work :-(

Well, it would be a little awkward. You would basically have to move the fish as close as possible, rotate it so the rear hatch/armour is facing the enemy, get the squad to disembark within 12" and to fire away. But then it doesn't work the same as FoF because they can be assaulted next turn and don't have the fish between them and the enemy.

But I mean, 3 full squads rapid firing would mean.. 72 Pulse Rifle shots. Minimum. =)

Edit: Now I see why K'Vor thought that. While it doesn't have the fish in the way, it is still, as .mace says, a butt load of pulse fire.

Imagine that guided.....

As a suicide mission, you're also able to field Pathfinders in this type of squad. Although they won't get a shot in on the first deployment, the following turn they could fire off a load of ML's. Very risky though.

That's a bit expensive for a suicide squad =\ I'd think that you can pull off a medium range FoF using pulse carbines, whilst still protecting yourself, but you don't get as many shots. If you can get markerlight support thought (e.g. from the Interdiction Force) - that would make the shots count.

Otherwise, this datasheet seems handy for last minute claiming of objectives!

For FoF evilness, it could also be combined with the Precision Strike Tactical Asset. Hit any one unit of your choice on a 2+ with anything that fires at it. Make with the casualty removal shovel already. :P

The last minute objective grab is also a great plan, and, if pulled off correctly, would allow you to take/contest any objective.

Actually, the 'fish are unable to shoot, due to a special clause in the 'Strategic Redeployment' rule.
The FW/PF on the other hand, are able to shoot.
