Default newb question

Got into a discussion about this at my local store and got several different answers...

Can you, for example, put 2 missle pods on a crisis suit and not twinlink them? If you could, a ninja'o could get very nasty.

Short answer: Nope.

Any weapon taken double has to be Twin-linked (Commander Shadowsun Dual fusion blaster is the only know exception to this rule) but if you were to take 3 missile pods the first 2 are twin-link and the 3rd one isn't

No model may carry three of the same weapons system.

Xan is correct, you can`t take three weapons of thesame type.

What would a Ninja`O do with two Missile Pods? A Ninja`O needs 2 of his hardpoints to mount a Shield Gen and a VRT-system to ensure his survival and removal from CC, and the third hardpoint most likely goes to an anti-infantry weapon such as the CIB and not to a Missile Pod.

When I first started Tau I had this same question...I called GW and out of five calls two said yes, and two said no. The last didn't know.

I then came on here and was set straight as to what I could equip the suits with. ;D

Well, I was thinking of iridium armor instead of a Shield gen.

So, 2 hardpoints for weapons, 1 for the VRT...

And, to be honest, I was also mixing up deathrains with ninja'o...

No problem, all the special names can be confusing at the beginning

Iridium for a Ninja`O is good, but I wouldn`t leave the Shield Gen at home - you may encounter a Power weapon along the way....

Personally, I wouldn't use a shield generator on my Ninja'O. I've seen the Ninja'O as a model that attacks the more vulnerable parts of the opponents army. I just dont think it would be worth assaulting a squad with a Ninja'O if you know that they have a powerfist.

Personally, I think the Ninja'O is better at targeting units like devastator squads, dark reapers, and other units like that that can't stand up to a Ninja'O.

My Ideal Ninja'O is more on the lines of this.
Shas'O w/ PR, CIB, VRT, HWMT, SI- 135Pts

Personally, I think this is more effective than this Ninja'O
Shas'O w/ CIB, VRT, SG, SI- 130

For 5 more points your getting 2 more shots and losing a 4+ invulnerable? Sounds good to me. I just don't find that avoiding power weapons is much safer then taking a 50% chance of one killing you.

Just my thoughts,

BE

IMO, a Ninja`O is not about dealing damage, it is about TAKING damage. Besides, if you kill the unit you want to assault with shooting (or kill off all the models you could actually attack), your Ninja`O could get into serious trouble (especially if you have the Iridium armor, and can`t jump back the full distance...).

It is not only about Powerfists, as well. Power weapons, Plasma weapons and the like can ruin your day, as can the stray rocket or lascannon shot.
