Default XV89s

Hello everyone,

I was looking at Forge World's XV89 Battlesuit, and I'm considering purchasing one top use as my Shas'el. It's also very cheap, considering Forge World's prices. However, it only describes the kit as including 'a selection of weapons'. I see a Plasma Rifle, Missile Pod, Burst Cannon, and Fusion Blaster, but I wonder if there may be more. Does anyone here know exactly what weapons come in the XV89 kit, from personal experience? Thanks.

It comes with the same weapons as the normal Crisis Suit. One Flamer, one Plasma Rifle, one Fusion Blaster, one Missile Pod, and one Burst Cannon. The resin parts are designed to fit into those gauntlets. Because the model also contains the normal plastic Crisis sprue, you also get another version of all of the weapons in plastic.

Khanaris is right, I bought one to use as my Shas'el. Pretty awesome model, definately worth the money to make your head badass stand out more. I put mine on a resin 60mm base, too.

I don't know if it has too great an advantage over an XV8 commander? I'd recomment the XV84 over the XV89 though. Much better looking too, IMO

Nah, I saw all of the avaialable battlesuits and the XV84 seemed too low-tech. It felt like a more utilitarian battlesuit rather than a striking commander's suit. I really like Shas'o R'myr's suit, but didn't want a Shield Generator or TLed Plasmas, so I went with the closest looking model, the XV89.

Same here. I'm debating whether it's worth it to pay another $10 on the CIB from BWBs, or if I should give him a Plasma Rifle or something else in the kit instead, :-\

I was thinking about getting the XV89 AND the GW XV8 commander and use the GW one as a bodyguard but use the CIB on the real commander.

Or just magnetize the weapons and use a plasma rifle temporarily

i personally prefer the one with the markerlight on his back... basically because it is the only one likely to ever come in useful : forgeworld make some nice stuff, i just wish they would make more useful rules!

also, just to point out, the lower arms of all the forgeworld battlesuits (yes they are fully posable!) can be interchanged, so you could get r'myr and another forgeworld battlesuit and use the forearms of the other one on r'myr. the TL plasma rifle could be given to, say, one of your commanders bodyguard

There is a sticky over at the Conversions-Board, which should answer your questions:

http://forums.tauonline.org/index.php?topic=4208.0

Also, another thread which deals exclusively with the requisition of small rare-eart magnets:

http://forums.tauonline.org/index.php?topic=53977.0

Cheers,
