i got that tau army so i can assign them "task force" like...configure it per opponent, assign units to the battleroup and was actually thinking interchangeable weapons for the vehicles...just put collecting the pieces out of the way so i can concentrate on learning to play..most of the terms here i kinda follow but i'll ask a lot of stuff don't worry...the forge world stuff like the turret upgrades for the hammerhead or the crisis suits or even the barracuda fighter..are they "legal" to play here, meaning if one day i get them would they let me play those pieces or is it up to the place i go to...sorry..looking at all those options of gameplay with all these game pieces makes me think of a lot of combined arms scenarios to beat opponents..anyway i'm way too much ahead of myself.i will follow your advices and thanks again for all your replies

You definately have the model range to "task force" against your specific foe. A word of advise though, don't glue all your units together than have weapon options (ie: vehicles, battle suits). Look into purchasing some very cheap and very effective Rare Earth Magnents (little ones) so you can pin and magnet these weapon options--it will allow you to configure on the fly to your task forces without buying tons of extra models and the like. There's a thread specifically for magnets on suits and all in the modeling and conversion board

Hi
Welcome to the board, I'm the resident know it all and the most active Tau poster (and yes I can say that )

were all here beause we want to help, no money nececcary :

Frst of all I'd advise reading this

and then the Bible of Tau

that should give you some basic grounding (I'm assuming you've read the rules here)

any questions can be Pm'ed to me (its not like I have anything better to do ^-^) or just start a thread

you've got a shaz load of stuff there for a beginner:
1 ethereal
72 fire warriors
3 crisis suits
3 broadsides
10 pathfinders incl 2 commnders and 3 rail
9 stealth suits incl 1 commander
2 hammerheads
1 devilfish

unpainted
24 FW
24 kroot
1 kroot shaper
1 kroot ox
Sadly, you'll never use these ^-^
4 kroot hounds
12 gun drones
1 hammerhead

I'm also afraid you have way too many FW and not enough Devilfishes ^-^

I think you have enough stuff there to make 1500pts if you can snag another fish, or simply leave the turret off a HH :P

I'll elaborate when you've read the course material

I'm impressed that you know what espouse means

I dont think more fishes and hammers is a priority as much as getting what you have painted.

you have 4 skimmer hulls, exactly what I recommend for 1000pts. (unless you want pathfinders too ^-^)
