Default TAU and Psykers

With a new Ork codex the Weird boys will return giving orks Psykers! Should tau get some because if they don't they will be one of two races without them?

Got my vote in, In fact i kind of like the idea of no psyker for the Tau..it does give them another added 'uniqueness' to the race.

No.

Its one of the things that makes the Tau unique in 40k. In the fantasy setting it is the one technological race trying to survive with the depravities of physics, sense and the warp.

Thus giving them something of an element like them as it is a travesty turning them into something similar to the other races. We should embrace the differences of the armies rather than try and flatten them for the sake of balance or interest.

No, its totaly not fluffy(i really like fluff). there way to far away from any warp activity, may be something like a psyker that dosent use the warp for its power

Tau don't have Psykers. It's in the fluff. Tau minds have almost no signature in the warp. Therefore, none of them could be psychic.

It would also be unbalanced, and take away their uniqueness.

So No.

the question is are psychics common to every race or just to playable races.

Would adding a psychic ally make the tau too powerful, would they loose their uniqueness as a race to play.

Would it really add that much too the tau and how would it interact with their technology?

well- fluff speaking the tau employ psykers, seemingly to counter the use of psykers specifically in the imperium. but who knows.

I was actually thinking about this problem yesterday. Since the Tau learned a lot about the Warp during the Medusa campaign, maybe they can construct some kind of drone that could simulate a pariah. I know the Necrons have devices that can close of the warp and stop psychic attacks, so maybe in the future we could have drones that will have some kind of anti-psyker field that would affect the squad its attached to or maybe a 12" radius, so then it would be a poor mans psychic hood.

Or GW needs to do something like that, since Tau is one of the only armies that has NOTHING to counter psychic attacks.

Yes, we do. It`s called a Railgun and redmists most psykers with just a single shot.

Besides, most psychic powers are only useful against infantry - which either hides behind terrain (Crisis), is in a transport (Firewarriors), dirt cheap (Kroot) or invisible (Stealth Suits).
Vehicles are immune to most psychic powers, anyway.

True, Railguns won't really work if the psyker is an IC, but just because we play Mech doesn't mean everyone does. We have to think about our static Tau brothers. :P

Plus, pariah drones just sound cool and would be very Tau-ish. Maybe have an upgrade for shield drones that make them anti-psychic on top of that and I might actually think of taking a drone for once.
