The Etherials are the leaders with the highest ranking being the oldesr Aun'O.

There is however a council of advisors made up of retired Os from each caste, water, earth, air, and fire. After serving 4 years as an O the Tau can retire and join the council. At least Im pretty sure its 4 tho it may be a different span of time.

Each caste orchistrates their own area of expertice unless an Aun says otherwise. So in the absence of an Aun a Shas'Os decisions about a battle are final, a Por'Os decision about fleet movements is final, etc.

Thats basically it.

Uh where did I read that... either on the GW UK site or in the codex itself. One or the other... or both.

Ethereals have absolute power, and all the other castes do as they say.
If you really want to find out about tau, read "fire warrior", and/or read the codex closely.

not really a neccessary post... lock it.

I dunno it might be in the codex. Have you read all the fluff in it?

I dont have the time to check. Just read the background... all of it on the Tau page and in the codex and you should see it. In the codex Id look for something on the caste hierarchy structure.
