Default Markerlights on XV84 and Tetras

Can the ML be fired in addition to the other weapons on the suit \ tetra? rather than replace a weapon (as a pathfinder or shas'ui markerlight is chosen over their weapon)?

Markerlights count as weapons in all respects.

On a tetra, a Markerlight counts as a defensive weapon lower than S4. Therefore, I think you can technically fire the pulse rifles as well, but:

Why would you?

If you're doing it right, you won't be marking an eligible target anyway.

What do you mean? I fire both my Pulse Rifles and Markerlights at the same target all the time. The lights help Firewarrior teams, and the extra shots are never bad...

I don't understand why you would fire both...

I usually, in my 1500 force use the tetra's as a tag team for my broadsides, so I'm usually marking big tanks, or out of pulse rifle range.

I guess this is pretty much what i'm thinking. I haven't fielded Tetras before but I know my enemy tomorrow is Chaos and a Land Raider will be making an appearance. Sending the Tetra's over (which should hopefully get there in the first turn) to light up the LR for the HH's (or XV88's). Could do with getting an ML hit from elsewhere too however, to give the Tetras a chance at hitting in the first place ;-) )

Can't use a marker to mark for another markerlight. Sorry.

Tetras - 2 man team, with Targetting array - 110 points. Gives you two mobile markerlights at BS 4, with scout move (I think) and a free disruption pod.

Bargain. You don't want them too close though - they have a 36" range, and should skirt your board edge to keep them away from the worst of the fire.

In an objective grabbing mission, or table quarters, they can be perfect as well for a last turn grab, burning 24" up the board.

Keep in mind, a Markerlight is a Heavy 1. An XV84 would have to remain stationary in the movement phase in order to fire, which could conflict with Jump-Shoot-Jump tactics.

Doh! of course. I wasn't thinking straight. Yeah, Tetras are looking as the prefered option for sure. Fingers crossed for later.
