So, we've got the official ones and those are all going into the Project- but I wanted Article 3 to be then first Article with 'hard' player fluff-

So, I'm adding Fish of Fury (need a tau name for that)

Mech Tau?

There are a couple more- right?

The different set ups for Battlesuits and their purposes, forget which GW article had that, but it was a good one.

There's always the whole slew of anti-necron tau, something important to my army in particular, but you could just go with what I call the Monolith Lancer (stolen from this site technically, but I came up with the cool name), 3 broadsides in seperate squads, spread across the board incase the damn thing decides to deep strike on one, the chances of getting a penetrating hit are pretty high, and it works like a charm every time I face a necron player, but it would be just as effective against any giant tank with either a ton of range or ability to move fast (deep strike counts as moving fast in my book).

Ummmmmm... trying to think I know there's more... should we state the obvious "peek-a-boo" strategy used with Crisis suits? jump onto a hill during movement, take your shots, jump behind it during the assault phase to get out of LoS.

anything else?

'hard' player fluff- eh?

Is that stuff like our Cadres history? or How we think the Tau do things? Because if so I could write till my fingers get sore...

Specialist Blackout Teams - small fire teams with all carbines and Emp's to disable Tau tanks. Game wise, the logic is obvious, but fluffwise it could be that they are deployed when destruction of enemy armour is not needed/wanted e.g. research.

I don't know who first coined the term Blackout, I saw it a long time ago, here I think, and it fitted so I used it, but I'm not sure who the first person to think of the term was.

Blackout: adj.
meaning a power cut or lack of electricity 1. A team of Tau Shas'la armed with electromagnetic pulse grenades which fry electronic circuitry resulting in a short circuit and power cut 2.

I think thats where the term comes from. The shutting down of all electrical devices on a vehicle leaving it vulnerable.

I know why. Just not the player who first used said term to describe said team.

so far-

Shas'La:

Rescue Ops: history, training, need.

Black Out Teams: In essence- kill-teams, sent on agressive missions to disrupt enemy ops.

I need a name for Warfish- does not have to be Tau but it can't have 'fish' in it...

On a strategic scale, I highly recommend reading the Marine Corps Doctrinal Publication 1 on USMC Warfighting (specifically Maneuver Warfare). The Tau follow maneuver warfare tactics to the extreme, at the exclusion of almost everything else, so it's a good read to get in the Tau mindset. Here are some more MCDPs.

On a tactical scale, I honestly don't think there's enough room in one of your Tau Project articles to cover every weapon[sup]1[/sup], tactic, or specialist team the Tau could/would employ. The possibilities are nigh limitless, and unofficial player fluff may or may not mesh well with actual military theory or likelihood (like Special Ops Cadres designed to go deep into enemy space with no hope of ever getting back - which I've seen used quite often).

Imagine Carl Von Clausewitz' 'On War' mixed with the '7th Edition Guidebook for Marines' and you'll get a small idea of how extensive a merger of strategic and tactical information can get... Best keep it simple and stick to the obvious, general stuff rather than specifics here...

---

[sup]1[/sup] - I do have a rather extensive list of weaponry for a side-project Tau-themed RPG my ATT buddies and I are making, though... PM me if you want our WIP Armory. ;D
