I take it the question is 'How many fire warriors are enough'
I depends on the points of the game and how your playing but for a 1500 pt. game i use 28 FW (2 squads of 10 1 squad of 8 )

For me, Firewarriors are really important, so in the small game, I will push to put in two full squads with their Shas'ui. In a game larger than 500 points, I will always have 36 Firewarriors with Shas'ui. The only exception is against Orks, where I will come down on the Firewarriors in order to field more Kroot (but I never drop below 24 Firewarriors, with Shas'ui, but mounted in that case).

I think on average, you can always expect to see 36 Firewarriors in my lists, regardless of opponent.

I would recomed 2 squads with a Devilfish in a small battle /1000

And 4 squads with a Devilfish in larger battles/2000

It's really up to you to decide.

The best advice is; play a few games with many different amounts of fw's and find which number works best for you!

The most common configuration of FW is:
2x 12 FW with Shas'ui, Bonded, Devilfish
1x 12 FW with Shas'ui, Bonded

At least it is common for me!

I have just two squads atm but thats just monetary limitations. I would take as many as possible. Forget kroot. The only other troop choice I would see as valid is the Gue'la just to get some more cc friendly units in there.

Firewarriors are allot more powerfull than you think. They can pop armor 10 and 11 wich constitutes allot of rear armor and the vypers. So they can down a number of vehicles especially from the rear just with their basic weopons. If they have carbines they can pin and used in conjunction with drones they are very good. They can put out a heavy weight of fire especially in rapid fire range and have decent survivability with a 4+ save.

All around one of the best standard troops in the game second only to SM. Make use of them. The only reason I take suits is to pop armor more reliably and draw fire from my troops.

When used with the Devilfish the Firewarriors become a devastating mobile unit. Most effectively deployed using the Fish of Fury tactic which an explanation should be floating around here somewhere.

The best list I have seen for infantry choices was:

2 squads of 12 firewarriors, 2 carbines bonded, shas ui, devilfish
2 squads of 12 firewarriors bonded, shas ui
2 squads of 6-8 gun drones

The gun drones hang back behind the firewarriors without the devilfishes. They zoom forward and pin any units that aproach while the firewarrios blast away as a powerfull firebase.

Meanwhile you use the two devilfish mounted units together or seperately to use the fish of fury on the enemies flank/s. This gives you the best of both worlds making use of the rapid fire of the weopons and their 30 inch range giveing your opponent allot of decisions to make on how he could possibly counter so many lines of damage. Even though your army isnt bunching its fire you can still blast an army apart in no time.

I dont like to place large restrictions on the good parts f my army just to have FW so I have less tan normal requirements.

in 1000pts I just go by the min.:
12 FW
-'UI
-Devilfish
-DL

and usually 20 kroot to fill the troops, maybe another fish squad, but not usually, there are better things to spend on :P

1500pts I like more:

12 FW
-'UI
-Devilfish
-DL

12 FW
-'UI
-Devilfish
-DL

and 20 kroot to fill some troops out, sometimes another fish instead, but not usually.

in the 2000point army list that i am bulding i cant decide on my troops choices but with 260 points to spare i have 2 FoF squads (430) and 20 kroot (140). For the points left im wondering whether more kroot and a static fire warrior team, 2 static fire warrior teams, or another FoF team and some other upgrades elsewhere. Ideas?
