Default Tau being small is myth

Not all tau are small. The Fire warriors and stealth team is about the same height as a human. Here is a link to show you: http://www.weetoysoldiers.com/compar...0_1000x475.jpg

They're just shorter than average. They're never called really small. They're only 5 ft. tall.

The model miniatures are not to exact scale.

Crisis suits should be at least 25% larger in the fluff (3.5-4m tall), Hammerheads and Devilfish 10-25% bigger as well, and Tau, on average, should be slightly shorter than the average human (1.7-1.8m or so).

Looking at size-comparisons of the models is pointless. :-\

Try comparing an Imperial Guardsman to a Space Marine and see what you come up with.

Space marines should be much larger. At least a head taller than Fire Warriors/Guardsmen... Probably around the size of the XV25 actually. Terminators should be larger still (currently about the same size as the XV25s). But yeah this is just the way they've been modelled in 40k scale..

Not the size of a battle suit but more like between Guard and Battle suit size.

What I always liked is the SM were said to be 7 foot tall or so, then Terminators would tower over them by a foot or so, then Primarchs even further over the Terminators. Methinks the marines be compensatin' fer sometin' (My pirate conscience talking).

To bad that what theyre compensating for may be removed quite easily with a rail rifle... ;D

Too bad that what they are compensating for and which may be removed quite easily with a Rail Rifle is absolutely unimportant for a Marine who is living a life of celibacy and chastity....

Back on topic: Ive seen a couple of Marines which were converted to be as big as they really are - oh boy, they are a sight to behold! If I wouldn`t have two left hands when it comes to converting, I`d build a Combat Patrol Marines force with real-sized Marines as well (the real-sized Rhinos would be another matter, though... ).

Yeah seems that the size of the mini's is all relative. I remember when I got my first Devilfish... "Twelve Fire Warriors are suppose to fit in here? I don't think so..."

If I spend a lot of time looking at a FW next to a Crisis suit I start theorizing that the Tau skeletal system is more flexable than our own and none of them suffer from clusterphobia.

Yeah, I'm starting Orks now and I custom built my trukks to actually hold the 10 models it can carry. It is bigger than a Hammerhead, which makes them very tough to hide behind cover, but the GW vehicles are horribly ugly and small.
