An interesting question popped up today while playing some 40k matches.

The Devilfish reads that it can hold up to 12 Models, including Drones. Now, if your Devilfish is equipped with Gun Drones (instead of, say, an SMS), does this count against the model capacity? When equipping Gun Drones to a Fish, can you only hold 10 models? Or does the phrase refer to drones included in the squad?

I've always played it as the latter; that the hull-mounted gun drones did not count against it. But it was an interesting question that came up and nobody could seem to come up with the same answer, even some of the veteran players.

the drones attached to a firewarrior/pathfinder squad are differen to ones on the devilfish. the devilfish can carry 12 models, the 2 drones at the front are part of the d'fish. so i can still carry 12 ;D

To clarify - both things you've said are correct.

The Drones on the outside of the tank, held at the front recesses don't count as passengers in the Transport hold (they're obviously not inside :P). They can disembark and form their own squad of two if you wish.

As for the actual transport capacity of the Devilfish - it can carry up to 12 models - which includes any drones attached to the squad that is being transported. So - you can have a squad of 12 Fire Warriors only, 11 Fire Warriors and 1 Drone, or 10 Fire Warriors and 2 Drones. (In other words, the drones that are taken with a squad of Fire Warriors count towards the squad size)
