Look around this section and you'll find a heap of strategic ideas.
Topics linked to in here will make the search far simpler!

remember when done to send painting photos and to get advice opn that in different boards. As Del said, get reading, trust me its worthwile!

In the meantime why not show us your list after you have worked out your favoured strategies so we can rip it apart like wolves offer advice ;D

I think the rip apart like wolves would have been more descriptive .

but yes the list is important, so is reading the Bible

lol, just let players try out their own styles first in battles before trying to convert them to total mech. Even though i agree its the best way to play tau (well, semi mech ;D) the best way is for people to ifnd out for themselves what works best with them and their army against their opponents!

why? it cuts out the "rip...like wolves" part, there will be no horrible list that he gets ripped apart for and thus no beating for his confidence :P.

and its a good read

yup, it is a good read, as are many of the tactica on the tau site *takes a bow* (!). But however many tacticas you read or how ever blaanced or good you think you are at list building, the best way is just to play, play and play some more games until you are experienced to be able to read tacticas, take their ideas and combine them with your own tried and tested to eventually build up an unbeatable game plan each time. Battle experience cannot be susbstituted for anything!

yes it can, reading the bible, it cuts out the "I wonder how 6 man 3 carb squads do?" phase allowing you to know what is just bad, and subbing in for quite a few ours of testing bad ideas :P.

that and no plan is unbeatable, and not all are created equal, you know what I mean .

*takes a bow for the tactica aswell *

yup, its a bit of a mix isnt it? im sure people would learn the hard way after a while but the amount of help here is enough to instantly build and play a decent army from scratch. However as i said theres a limit to what you can test out purely with statistics!
