Default Markerlights

Not sure if there's other topics like this one, sorry if there is
VV_?V
Do you need to Markerlight units for all the guns firing at it or just 1 light/ squad?

ex. 6 Stealth fires at a squad of somethings (doesn't matter what). Do you just need one Markerlight or do you need to hit the opponents with 6? Please help. I'm confused.

Markerlights make all targets hit on a 2+. Although only ONE weapon may be fired at the inproved to hit rate at the selected target. They also ignore cover saves. So if a pathfinder fires his markerlight at a target in cover, You may chose to fire one weapon at the illuminated target on a 2+ to hit, since the target was illuminated by a marker light they do not recieve cover saves. To fire at an illuminated target you still have to be within LOS and range

One Markerlight to one weapon system.

*ML + Pulserifle
*ML + hammerhead railgun
*ML + twin linked broadside railgun
*ML + HVY3 Ion cannon
*ML + Assault3 Burst cannon

Each of those would then hit on 2+ for all shots it delivers (like 1 shot for the pulse rifle at 30", 2 for the pulse rifle at 12" or less and 3 for the Ion or Burst cannons).

Not only doies that weapon activate via the markerlight be if the markerlight assigned misses, the weapon system selected [u]does not fire[/i]. If the marker light hits, the weapon system hits with all it's available shots on 2+ and ignores cover.

*Insert Buzzer Here* Ok, back it up a bit...lol...it is 1 light/model. The only way that you can have an entire squad hit on a 2+ is if each individual model has a makerlight to follow.

So, for every successful markerlight hit that you make, you may nominate one model (not squad) to claim the markerlight and fire all of its weapons at it (including multiple weapons models like crisis suits) at the target, hitting on 2+ and ignoring covers saves etc...

Well, not "model" because in a Pathfinder team, one ML can activate a Hammerhead Railgun system and one ML can activate the Seeker missile and a third ML can activate the SMS. The Hammerhead is just one model, but multiple MLs can activate different stuff. 1ML/wpn system is really the way it works out. ;D

another question on this topic tho: could markerlights 'light up' an enemy for a member of the same unit? say i've got a pathfinder squad w/4 ML and 3 RR...could the ML light up enemies for the RR to shoot at?

No, I think that only unit in a different squad may fire for the ML
