Default expectations of apocalyptic proportions!!!

There are a bunch of topics similar to this but I think this is the only one about new tau vehicles, but if I'm wrong then any administrator may shut this down asap.

About a day or two ago GW released a little news about its new apocalypse supplement and how it will have big new dice, and big new templates, and big new weapons, and big new upgrades, and big new vehicles with the big new upgrades that fire the big new weapons that are measured with the big new templates to see how many big new dice dice to roll.
So far GW has already shown off the new baneblade and plaguereaper tanks for the imperial guard and the chaos marines along with several big new vehicle packs that contain old vehicles with new upgrades. GW has also hinted at imperial and ork titans in some art work.

As for the tau, GW has announced tau armored interdiction force, which is a package of two hammer heads, a skyray, and a new upgrade sprue that is rumored to come with all apocalypse packs, but nothing else.

What I was wondering is if any one has heard anything about a big new tau vehicle. if not then does any one have any theories or even expectations of what they would like to see for a big new tau vehicle to come out of this new apocalypse? i know a few people have images of a giant plasma spewing, ion flinging, floating, drone taoting, Juggernaut in their heads. so what does every one think?

I think that the Tau won't be getting any ground based superheavies, as that's just not the Tau style of war.
Okay, maybe the scorpionfish, but that's highly unlikely.

What's more likely, if Apocalypse releases sell well, is that we'll get Fliers. And lots of 'em.
Tau Superheavies & specialist vehicles all seem to be Fliers, so…
Also, we have the Manta which eats other superheavies for breakfast. :P

that would be a sight to see... fielding a tau manta. Out of curiosity what is a scorpion fish?

Mayhaps we tau may get a super crisis suit?

Other then snazzy rules I don't think the Tau are getting much. Their is a vehicle upgrade sprue (Warseer has pics of it) but that's not really the much, and certainly minuscule compared to something like the baneblade. The Baneblade is very much an experiment to see how large GW can make kits and still maintain profits, so if it does well (even I want one) then maybe we'll see something of similar scale pop up for the other armies.

As I've herd, the Ork Titan is already done, but it was too big, so their scrapping it until they can figure out a way to get it on less sprue.

GW stated they are going to include statlines of unreleased models into Apocalypse. In other words they want to give some conversion opportunities to players and probably release these models later on.
We can hope that Swordfish will be included in Apo rulebook , giving us nice superheavy skimmer.
It was made with Tau VDR and released in some WD. Armed with Twin Railgun (not twin linked) Burst Cannon and Missile Pods.

I have to say i'll be a little dissapointed if all we get is the Tau Interdiction force....I already have 2 Hammerheads and a SkyRay...I can't see myself buying the box just for the one special sprue so that I can add three skimmers to my army that I can't use unless im playing a massive game with multiple FOCs...what I would really love to see is a GW sprue for the Baraccuda.

I remember the Tau Swordfish (back when it was in WD) being equipped with Twin-Linked railguns.

It was, yeah.

But the ScorpionFish is a Skimming Orca that carries tons of misslies, from the normal missile pod to Seeker, Tracer, and others.

I honestly have to say I could care less about all the fancy new upgrades and stuff. I think, as one of my friends recently spurred in my mind, that 40k has enough big/powerful/AP/Blast weapons in it, I think we've just about hit overkill now. I mean, what's the point of armor saves now? Every army has a plethora of weapons that negate every save available (except maybe Orks I guess, any others?...oh wait, they get Choppas, nevermind). The last 1000 pt game I played, my opponent made the move of teleporting in 5 Terminators right into my firebase. To most Static/Hybrid armies, this could be devestating at the 1000 pt level...well, with 2 Railguns, a total of 7 Plasma Rifle Shots (6 were T-L...he dropped within Rapid Fire range). I fired my weakest first, to try to save the Broadsides for something farther away, but out of 12 FW and 12 Kroot I only took down 1 Termie (those were all in RF range too, so about 48 shots...yeah, way below odds, I just failed to wound him enough mostly). Anyway, the point is, Armor saves don't seem to matter much anymore, except of course when its pure base troops vs. troops I guess, but when does that happen?

Sorry to rant, but I just loathe the further upscaling of the game's models. IG has the Basilisk (and if an IG player is feeling particularly Powergaming/paranoid, 3!) and the Leman Russ, what else do they need?

The other thing is, unless GW really does make some serious money off these models and kits and new books, I think they could be seriously shooting themselves in the foot with this one, for two reasons: first, the price will probably be kinda high for this stuff, so I don't think they will sell a lot, and second, not all armies are getting stuff like the Baneblade, unless they plan to put out models of this size for all armies. Even then, what are going to do, play one mega-tank against another, and have a dice roll-off? Or do you really play regular games with these monstrosities, at like 2500-3000 pts? One of two things would happen. 8 Marine Lascannons end the tank, or the tank, with its bigga guns, takes out half the army in it's openning shot. What kind of game is that?

Sorry, this just all seems like the antithesis to a "strategy battle game." Guess I'm done ranting, for now....I'd be interested in hearing your guys' thoughts on the points I've put forward.

i hear your cry timberwolfCY, nd i understand. but i reckon that the baneblade is going to rival the stuff from forgeworld. i mean we can already play titans! on the field. but i've never met anyone who has used them, nor herd of them. plus. if the baneblade plans to be that powerful. its gonna cost alot of points. a ridiculus amount of points i'd say. so i don't think we need to worry about half the army getting wiped out in one turn.

however in thise eventuallity with armour saves i tend to equipt my battlesuits with SG
