Default Kroot vessels

Aside from the warsphere, does anyone know what kind of space-faring vessels, aircraft, or vehicles the Kroot use? I don't have access to any of the expanded fluff, or I.A. books (yet), and was wondering if there were any other vehicles.

I do have Xenology, but it doesn't provide much information besides the physical aspects of the Kroot, and the origin of their technology.

Additionally, can anyone tell me if there are any Krootoid subspecies beyond the hounds, 'tox, and knarlocs? I have read many mentions to "kroot birds" and "kroothawks", but have yet to find any art, descriptions, or fluff explanations.

I have never heard of anything else besides the warsphere. From what I can tell, they use larger animals, such as the krootox and knarlocs, for transport and heavier firepower.

As for the "kroot birds" I think that refers to the "vulture" kroot that have wings. They count as a fast attack choice for the mercenary list.

(Love the BDS quote, btw)

No, I know ALL about Kroot Vulture Kindreds. I remember seeing a picture of a Gamesday model that was referred to as a Kroot Bird, but I'm wondering what it is.

Ah, well I've never heard of that, sorry.

(And thanks about the quote)

All I know of the "kroot hawk" comes from the Kroot Merc list- esentially, the kroot treat the "hawks" as sacred (As the hawks may be what the kroot evolved from), and mostly leave the "hawks" alone, except when using them as a protective icon (See "Kroothawk Totem", in the Merc list)...

Does anyone have any thoughts as to what the Kroot might use as, say escort ships, or what the Warsphere utilizes as it's armaments?

ahem....

Ok- so the Kroot utilize Kroot Warspheres which are relics of when the Kroot actually used technology. Their tech is derivativ of Ork tech ( ) which they have used to successfully colonize a number of worlds in and around their home system of Pech located in the Perdus Rift.

However, after the Orks defeated their Empire and the Tau saved them, the Kroot decided to voluntarily return to their old ways (as the new had almost lead to their extinction). Now the Spheres and the husks of their former Hives are all that remain of this once 'advanced' civilization.

Now, if the Ork model is to be used that means that the Warsphere is simply a generic term for Kroot warcraft (which are seemingly, universally, massive). Based on the Ork-Rok, this means that the kroot probably don't have two warspheres that look the same, by any means, and therefor you could easily imagine-create-describe Warspheres of varying size and capability.

Note: The Tau augmented many of these Warspheres, and the Warspheres do utilize their own FTL which is probably just like that of the Ork. Warspheres carry multiple, or singular, Kindreds which can be found both in the service of the Tau and rouge elements which operate outside of the Empire (however, there are no known incidents of Kroot willingly engaging the Tau- as this would jeapordize their species alliance with the Tau)

phew...

(Any time that I have my Kroot Mercs fighting against Tau, I just say that they have been tainted by Chaos/Tyranid Genestrain, and are fighting for their own survival.) ;D

As I understand it, the Kroot still use their warspheres with considerable spread. But I have never actually SEEN what a warsphere is supposed to look like, or what it uses.

Where are you getting the idea that the Kroot are turning away from technology? How does their having star-faring vessels relate to a "near extinction" of the Kroot? I haven't read anything that would be indicative of such, and it seems odd that the Kroot would give up their only means of getting from world-to-world without the assistance of Tau transports.

read the WD article on the Kroot and the article on Anghor Prok and you'll get a lot of Kroot fluff details.

You can see the Kroot Warspheres on the specialist websites- just go to GW's web page.

With the exceptions of the Kroot Hives and Kroot Warspheres there are no other relics of when they were advanced- and they do use Warspheres to explore the galaxy (after all, the only edict of anything resembling a faith is the consumption of new genetic material into their gene pool, and they would have stagnated had they remained on a single world).

So, in the old codex - the letter that one Tau was sending home to his sister. Is there any indication as to what were the energy readings in the hills?
