I'm trying to build a combat patrol that can pump out as many shots as possible. The maps are likely to be terrain heavy, so jump from cover, shoot, jump to cover works well.

Is there anything that says I can't have an XV8 with 2 Burst Cannons that are not twin linked, assuming I stick on a multitracker to fire two weapons?

The points cost on a basic XV8 is 46 for 6x 18" STR 5 shots. As the max armour for a combat patrol is likely to be 11, there is a 50-50 chance for a glancing hits if I face light armour but a good chance of major carnage against basic troops. (3 average hits vs 2.25 - but with a max hit of 6 vs 3 when using 2 rather than twin linked)

I will have a Fusion Blaster Pirhanna in the list to specifically deal with Heavies.

Yes, Read the armoury section, under the headign Twin linked. It's a bit grey but it does say it.

and the second [value] is for two weapons (counting as a twin linked weapon of that type)

So whenever you buy 2 weapons you MUST have them twin linked.

No problem, You might want to sort out those quote tags by the way.

In my Combat patrol, I ran a Shas'vre with an AFP, a plasma rifle, shield generatr then a hard wired multi-tracker and stimm injectors. He did quite well for me, (Taking out an enitre armoured fist unit and half of an infantry squad in one shooting phase)

I also found he had an insanely good life expectancy as well, even in combat.

Haha - I'm just too delete happy.

Yup I've got a XV8 Shas'vre with AFP, burst cannon, TA and HW multitracker in my list at the moment, but might swap the BC to missile pod for range again. The no cover save of the AFP has served me very well against Orcs.

If you really want massive direct firepower against GEqs then the combination of Burst cannon, Cyclic Ion blaster and multitracker is the superior option, if possible aided by a targeting array.

The combo lacks range though, and can't handle vehicles very well...

8 shots wow. a targeting array will help you hit with all of those shots and get a hardwired multitracker.

But that will really only work on a commander, with the target array you have BS4m so you still only hit on a 3+, on a commander you will be hitting on 2+. However, in combat patrol you can't use a command suit.

Personally, I dont like having mass weaker firepower on my XV8's. I find burst cannons just arent as useful on them as other weapons that the XV8 can get.

??? As I've understood it special equipment is available to all units that are allowed to take wargear at all, as long as no more than one of each type is used within the army.
Then it would be perfectly legal to equip any one Shas'vre Crisis Suit with this combo! (And even at BS3 this combo outshine twin-linked BC plus TA or BC plus MP plus MT.)

(Then there's the other factor that you'll need to buy a commander model to get the special weapons sprue, but that's a different matter.)
