Default Library of the Dead

Sorry to those who thought this would be up sooner- but I was under the false impression that I had already started it.

Right, for those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about=

Currently I am conducting a mass-effort to universalize Tau Facts that GW has not been able to help us with. This site was responsible for several major Plot developments during the Medusa Campaign by each of the members here involved- and it is a great hope of mine that i am able to help facilitate further changes by shelling out facts and ideas and making it so everyone here uses the same ones.
All his can be found in the TAU PROJECT post.

However, we came up with a unique concept regarding how the Tau leave a legacy as they have no value of 'children' really. That being said the idea of the Library of the Dead was born- essentially a building dedicated to the memoirs and knowledge of past Tau where every Tau, of every caste, can show up and learn from their ancestors.

But what to name it? Now thats the real crux. If you have an idea please put it here and I will endeavor to translate it into Tau- I'm sure a few of you have your own Lexicons and will try a hack at it- which your more than encouraged to do so.

Alright then- I'll start with mine, post yours here so we can talk about it.

Library of the Dead
Hall of Unending
Hall of Interwoven Paths

right then-

I don't like the idea of anything that sounds "Eldar" in style.

I think that unless there is one of these Libraries, it should have a generic name. For example, we have Schools, not "academies of learning". The name should be short and sweet, implying that it is a repository of knowledge, not some haunted mansion.

With that in mind, perhaps something akin to "Ancestor Shrine" would fit. Tau have a very asian / manga feel, and so ancestor-worship would make sense in their history. Even if it not "religious", veneration of their ancestors would definitely fit the Tau mindset; it emphasises that the individual will live on in a collective whole beyond death.

"The Hallowed Archives"
"The Archives of Eternal Life"

Those are mine, I can see the Tau opting for the second, as it is in essence the lives and teachings of those Tau that have died in one place, so in a sense they live on in there.

well, seeing as Tau scociety is much like that in the giver, i'd go based off that.

in the giver, a baby is given to a parent who raises them. once the baby has it's own house and family, they lose contact with their parents. this is recorded in the "Archives", in the unclassified department. this means that anyone can come in and see who your parents are, your grandparents, etc. in the archives, all sorts of things are stored. historical information, business, and losts of other info.

So I'd just call it the Archives

I vote for something simple as well.

'The Archives' sounds perfect. Short and sweet, and describes the purpose of the place as well.

I would have thought that the Tau would want something more literal, they generally tend to give things a name that sort of describes what it is. The Archives (don't get me wrong, I love the word Archive) could be archives of anything, since this is a special archive of all the knowledge and teachigns of the dead I think it would be more Tau like to have another noun in it somewhere.

The Archives of History, then.

After all, that is what it (literally) is.

Dont be rude :P

I think The Archive is best, what would that be translated?

Possibly "Precendent archive" or "Archive of the Precedent"

I have no idea what it would be translated, but I got a couple more suggestions

Archive of Eternity/Eternal Archive
Archive of the Undying
