Default The Orca

if im not mistaken, the orca comes with 6 battlesuits that are stored in the hull that crouch down. i just want to know if it is possible to convert these suits to be game playable (by cutting and moving and pinning etc)?

I have seen the picture but do not have the model it depends on if the battel suits are made to be part of the ship or sort of separate pieces. they are in the sitting down position but if they are separate from the ship than you could pin the legs I suppose.

Notice that is says "plastic and resin" kit. The seated Fire Warriors are definitely resin, so my guess is that the plastic parts are the suits and the drones. My guess, from looking at the model, is that Forge World just gives you six Crisis sprues, and 6 sets of bent resin legs. If you look at the unpainted pictures of the Manta, you should notice that the legs on the Crisis Suits down in the hold are a different color than the rest of the model. I assume they use the same part for both models. I would call just to make sure if you are planning on buying one.

I hope they are game playable that would be awesome. Six crisis suits is nice.

I'd be plenty interested into seeing a conversion on how to make the legs playable and still fit inside the orca.

Just use the bent resin legs!

Honestly, it's an easy solution to the repetitiveness of Crisis Suit posing, and the plastic legs seem to break all the time. Better yet, mix-and-match some of the bent legs with normal ones to make "taking flight" poses.

In every FW suit Ive bought or seen, you get the complete regular sprue as well as the FW bits, so it's really not a problem if you don't like bent legs. Heck, you could probably swap them off to someone here if you wanted, people are always trying to do something different.

In all honesty, the six suits are the only reason I'd ever really consider getting an orca. They help justify the price a bit, and I can't really see it being that big a deal for actual gameplay.

Eh, I don't think it's that bad. I'd take it if it served a role I actually needed in my army, but unfortunately, it really doesn't. I think I'd get a lot more play out of a barracuda, which, IIRC, is also substantially cheaper. And also looks good.

In all honesty, if I ever make an orca, I'll carve it out of a block of wood. How hard can it be?
