You realize that you cannot load the Fire Warriors into the Pathfinder's transport?* Assuming you want to take all of those models (most people would say ditch the pathfinders), I would break the bodyguards off and make them 2 seperate elite choices.* That removes the need for a target lock and bonding.* Go with the Fireknife configuration on all three, unless there is a significant reason to do otherwise.* The shield drone could be dangerous to take.* If you get hit with many weapons from the same source, you are going to be taking the battlesuit's saves on toughness 3 and with only a 4+ armor save.*

You have no anti-armor whatsoever, so consider picking up a Broadside if your opponent likes tanks (I would say Hammerhead, but you wouldn't be able to fit in the pathfinders).* If you are fighting an dominantly infantry army, you are going to need a lot more pulse rifles.* Consider bulking out your Fire Warrior squads and/or adding some Kroot.

not bad, but pathfinders wont perform in this small a game, they need weapons to guide, and PR arent worth it.

so I'd drop the PF and the bodyguards as the comander is safer as an IC and get a HH tank, the Railgun is a real asset in such a small game.

most 500point armies have at least one vehicle in them, many have tanks (by this i just mean heavy armour) so a railgun is definately needed - Broadside or HH? Front armour 13 of a HH will keep it alive very nicely in this point limit, more so than a broadside, and is also far more flexible and versitile.

As for the rest there isnt a lot of room for battlesuits, so give stealths a miss if you were thinking about them, and also pathfinders are really only good for their points cost and staticness in larger points games.

However, my blunt advice is give 500points a miss, the rules for comabt patrol (400pts) are much more fun and help you build a balanced list on the restrictions. Try 400pts instead of 500 and you may well be pleased!

its in the back of the 40k rule book (4th ed) and an article can be downloaded from the gw website with the rules too under the heading - '40k in 40mins'.

OK nice tactics, but I believe that you are a little confused on the Transport rules...as Khanaris said, the Devilfish can only transport the Pathfinders, not the Firewarriors...other than that, I would like to make some changes to your list...

HQ
Shas'el- Twin linked missile pod and shield drone: 86* *(plan is to stick these behind devilfish when it lands infront on them)
Bodyguard: Twin linked missile pod and target lock: 66
bonded:10
OK, bodyguard are pointless and expensive...make the bodyguard suit a elites crisis suit instead. Also, where is the "loved-by-all" plasma rifle? The plasma rifle is the best weapon (in my experience) to give to a suit...also don't worry about a drone...not in small games anyways! Here is my version of what a soild HQ should be:
Shas'el- Plasma Rifle, Missile Pod, Multi-Tracker: 85

Although approx the same price, definatley deadly...I found it is not worth it to Twin-Link Commanders, for they have a good BS.

Elites:
This is what your bodyguard turns out to be with Fireknife...the most trusted of all configs
1 Crisis Suit: Plasma Rifle, Missile Pod, Multi-Tracker: 65[/i]

Troops

8FW bonded: 90
8FW bonded:90
Soild Choice

Fast Attack

4 Pathfinders, bonded 58
Devilfish 2x seeker missile: 100
Not commonly seen in Tau 500pt armies, but hey, why not?

498pts

I would also strongly suggest that you put some points into a Hammerhead by removing your Pathfinders and Devilfish, for it will be worth it!

erm, you havent read the rules :P, no broadsides due to their 4+ save, Ok, dont worry, a good list goes a bit like this -

Fireknife Crisis - 65
Fireknife Crisis - 65
12 Fire Warriors, Shas'ui, Devilfish with Decoys - 215

thats jsut a start, not quite sure how to fisnish it, but play around with thsoe sort of units.
