Default Tau squad names

I'm about to start a campaign in which I need to personalise my Tau force. This inlcudes naming my Fire Warrior, Pathfinder, Kroot Squads. Can anyone give me any suggestions on how Tau squads should be named and any suggestions would be great.

Squads are named just like Firewarriors.

ie: "Mal'caor Team" or "Kauyon Team".

I name my fire warrior squads through colours, usually Green, Blue and Red.
My kroot squads are named through an animal name and then the word herd or pack, (E.g Wolf pack).
My pathfinder squad is also named after a colour except I usually go with black or white.
My crisis teams are named after what ever weapon configuration they have (E.g fireknife).

Hope this helped,

I'd say it depends on the cadre's theme.

Tau are highly disciplined so the team names would be catchy and short I guess...

Color is good. May be something by analogy with human teams like Echo, Charlie, etc.
Could be animal names like Wargamer sudjested. It is interesting when you translate there name to "TAU". -> Hears what I use http://www.cygnusx1.info/tau/lexicon.asp
(sorry Wargamer ;D )

Its a dictionary. There is one written by Wargamer on TO somewhere. Its also good, I just couldn't find the updated version.

So in anyway IMO it should be something simple. Also unlike vespids, kroot do not coordinate (as far as I know, I might be wrong) with TAU forces during the battle. They have a plan before, but since they have no "communication" devises... I'd say they can't coordinate with the main forces all that well. Thats why they can infiltrate
and all... (For me its a common logic. No "VOX caster analogue -> no communication during the battle) So I wouldn't give them "Tag team names". Instead just state their kindred. In battle I guess TAU would refer to them as "first" and "second" squad/detachment/"herd"

Hope I helped

Typically names like Alpha, Theta, Sigma will work. Or you can use the code that air traffic controllers use, like Bravo team, although I think Greek letters would work better.

so what your saying is that oven cleaner can remove paint from plastic models? and after that, you take a toothbrush to your plastic model, and the paint just comes off?

I use Alpha, Beta etc for my Firewarrior teams.

My tanks and Crisis units have catchier names... for example a Railhead is called "Stahlhagel" ("Steelhail"), my Deathrain Crisis team is called "Team Hammer" (fitting name... ).

Anything that is cool should fit.

Personally I save the 'squad names' for my elites and specifically the stealth suits.

Do remember that individuality really becomes prevalent in the stealth teams, since they always work outside the standard Tau tactica, acting as 'agents of chaos'

My three squads of stealth suits all have different paint schemes, and are named, predictably, Red, Green and Purple squads.

Each squad has done amazing things in every game i play, i never field an army without stealth suits!

For me I just name them after numbers.

Typically, I'll field a Combat Command of my actual unit, more as a way to explain why I have so few units on the field since the Tau field large forces. As for the individual units, typically the line troopers will get a number, while the others get names. Or at least, they will once I can determine their character.
