Default marxist communism vs the greater good. the end all discussion!!

Okay in the other topic of Farsights loyalties, we stumbled into communism. I think that communism and the greater good, are very similar. Everything they do goes to the greater good, much like the ideals mentioned in Marx's Manifesto. Ethereals also watch over the other castes as well as having the influence over them, and have dominion over all the other Tau. Finally the Tau have no known religion and the Manifesto also mentions that religion is the opiate of humanity, which means that the Tau doesnt like opium or any of the greater goods.

It is strange for me personaly to think of another being striving to do good without any moral compass.

Seeing as some of the most terrible things have been done with the best intentions.

yes, it is, I can't understand it. Half the time I can't read your posts either, but I don't even know what language he's speaking.

Come on people.

No it wasnt that hard to read, although it did have reasonably bad punctuation but not to the extent you are stating. So i fail to see the reasoning behind your comments, especially as its not your place to comment anyway.

Hmmm. Ok, anyway... Back to the matter at hand I think.

Firstly, The 'Greater Good' is not communism. Communism includes the abolition of ownership and inheritance, complete leveling of social structure based upon material possessions. The Greater Good allows for each individual to live their life as they see fit as long as they work for the benefit of all. One is controlling and forces the individual to work for all as they have nothing to strive for personally, the other reasons that the individual is smart enough in their own right to see the good sense in putting aside personal goals in favour of the people.

As for Ethereals. They are in control of the Tau, true. But they are not an iron fist, more of a guiding hand. The reference to their possible 'pheromone' controlling agents may be a contributing factor, but not definitive proof of a Marxist society.

But then again, I'm no real expert...

But remember that communism and Communist theory as in Marx Manifest are two completly different things. They have only same name but the rest is quite different. And the Theory never worked on greater than 50 people group.

My apologies. I should have probably explained. I was trying to kill two birds with one stone and didn't realise they'd be mixed. I was regarding two posts I saw. One commenting on the Tau way being similar to communism, and the other hinting at the Ethereals possible Marxist style of control.
