Default Transporting a Tau Army

Wasn't entirely sure where to put this, but here's as good a place as any, I guess.

I've got a tournament this weekend (first one ), and I've got my army together less some last minute painting. Now I come to a dillemma: how to get it there.

I've been looking online at some of the foam storage trays, but I'm not sure what I need to get. Those that use them, what size trays do you use to move your Hammerheads, suits, and firewarriors?

I have a fishing tackle box, that I lined with thin foam. It has three drawers, two small and one large, and a storage area on top. I can fit four tanks, two broadsides, my dice, tape measure, calculator, and templates in the top. The first drawers has 24 fire warriors and six stealth suits. The second has 20 Kroot and 2 hounds. The larger third drawer has 4 XV8s, 8 pathfinder, 12 gun drones, 6 gue'vessa, and my Necromunda gang. So, for a lot less than a foam army transport you can carry a fairly large army. Just check K-Mart or Wal-Mart.

I've used an old suitcase for most of my small models, all fit between two layers of soft foam, and an Hammerhead tank box to fit four tanks in there - the older tank boxes (from over a year ago) are actually larger than the new tank boxes.

My suitcase fits 24 Fire Warriors, 12 Kroot, Many drones, a XV15 Squad, 4 XV8s, and a Broadside, as well as a few other models here and there.
My tank box fits four disassembled tanks (two devilfishes and two hammerheads to be precise) - with their engines removed and any drones, turrets, and accessories removed, just placed on top. It's all padded with foam.

I put all my infantry in egg cartons, cuz I'm a cheap college student.
I'm also a vegetarian, so eggs are surprisingly few and far between in my house.
That and bubble wrap keep the old cadre safe from harm.

I have "Army Transporter"s from Sabol. They carry my army quite nicely thank you! =^.^=

You can get to their website by clicking: http://www.saboldesigns.net/

For infantry models, paper handkerchiefs work quite well, just wrap two or three models in one, then stack them in a lunchbox or something. For tanks, I dunno. How are you going to the tournament? Car, train, foot, bike,....?

By car; tourney's an hour and a half north of here.

And KCKitsune: that was actually the stuff I was looking at originally, but I wasn't sure which sizes of foam I would need.

I may look and see what I can find in the way of a tackle box or something; with it being the beginning of summer, should be plenty of them out at Walmart.

I have a large takle box in which I keep my entire hobby, paints, models, and brushes. I usually keep the models out on the painting table when not traveling as it helps to keep down some scratches and keeps my attention on the army on a whole for touch ups. Also it looks cool when they are all together in one place.

My tackle box is lined with felt on the bottom and sides and I keep my kroot, FW's, Vespid, and Stealths on the smaller trays, crisis suits and tanks go onto the bottom with some foam in between to keep them safe.

Here is the very best transport money can buy.

http://intersponge.com/

Whats really nice is like the Sabol design, these intersponge transports have customizable trays.

What makes them better than the Sabol brand is the way it unzips for easy access.

My models ride in class. Ziplock baggie ftw.

In all seriousness, I prefer the hard clamshell cases GW sells, but I only have a couple, not all my models fit.
