Default Deal or no deal?

I've just picked up a "complete" painted (barely) Tau army for 200$ Canadian (200$ Canadian is about 134 Euros). Here's what the army contained...

O'Shovah
9 Crisis Suits (All oddly armed with flamers/Plasma)
24 Fire Warriors
5 Pathfinders (3 Railrifles, no leader)
Devilfish
3 Hammerheads (2 Railheads, 1 Ionhead)
6 Broadside Suits
16 Kroot (No Shaper)
4 Shield drones
16 Gun Drones
...And the old Codex (I already had the newer one)

So... did I get a good deal or not?

You got an army, that's for sure.

All you need to get is the regular commander(cannot use three hammerheads with O'Shova) and you'll be set. I'm not too sure on the crisis armament, you can probably modify them later.

You have the beginnings of a hybrid army, you may go either way (Static or Mobile) form here. However it will stay hybrid for a while, you do not have enough devilfish for a mobile army.

so what your saying is that oven cleaner can remove paint from plastic models? and after that, you take a toothbrush to your plastic model, and the paint just comes off?

try converting 2 of the hammerheads into devilfishes, and you have a mobile army.

You have a very good deal there. A few fixes and you have a solid list.

It would depend on how it was painted. If it was basically primed and base-coated cleanly, it is a good deal. If they dunked all of the models in the paint-pot, it probably wasn't a good deal. For the volume, 200$ Canadian is a very good price, though.

That is a smokin a-ss deal... The guy who sold that to you must have been hard-up for $$$.

In Canada, the three Hammerheads are about $165.00 for the 3 of them, so you do the math...

no brainer...

The only thing that is wrong with this deal is, I didn't get to it first... ;D

Thats a great deal, there, unless of course, the models are completely hosed. As for the crisis weaponry, well, thats normally an easy fix. Carefully pry off the armaments you dislike, and hit up bwbits or ebay for replacements. Or swap with your local tau player, most of us have tons of extra crisis weaponry.

And, if you want to part with any broadsides, let me know. =)

Well, he didn't dunk them in a paint pot- He threw the paint at them from about 5 feet away .

But I'm a competant enough painter that previous (horrid) paintjobs don't bother me... much...

Well... Doubt you'd want THESE Broadsides . For some reason, this guy modeled one with a bare Tau head poking out the top... Another has his feet blown off (On purpose ). I've been able to salvage a proper team of three, and have already re-painted and based them.

As for the Crisis suits... I managed to outfit a team with twin plasmas and missle pods. I'll experiment with twin-flamers, as I often fight IG and Eldar...
