Default The Failsafe Detonator

Has any one put it into there army at all. i put one on my stealth suit once before i found out they cant and it was really good. took out a horde of Thousandsun (he got bad rolls and i took out 4 guys)

Used it once against 'nids.
My commander got swamped by hormagaunts. (*cursing* lucky fleet roll )
His bodyguard guy runs, and he's only got one wound left, so why not activate it.

about ten dead gaunts later. Yup, it's fun when it works.

seems like its a risk if your guy doesnt louse his leadership. if im correct you can just activate it at any point

Not any point. Youve got to lose combat, and it happens immediately, prior to his reaction.

itd be ok if you could run it on stealths, but its pretty much pointless on an XV-8. Too conditional, and its a huge point sink(blowing up an XV-8). The str is great, the AP is not.

It would be good on stealths of stealths could take Special Issue Equipment.
I use one on the bodyguard of O'Shovah, simply because losing one crisis is better than losing multiple if i dont manage to take down a high Initiative foe quick enough.

That is indeed the best place to employ it. Your initiative isn't great so a dedicated assault unit that beats you in combat will sweeping advance and kill you. Sacrificing a 50 point suit can save your 600+ point unit and hurt that dedicated assault squad a bit too.

I used it twice.

First time the squad was slaughtered (by Vet Marines) before I could detonate it.

The second time it worked well. I gave it to a Shas'vre bodyguard... He took out a few Scorpions...
But most important my commander got away and he and the other Bodyguard killed the rest of the Scorpions with Missiles and Rapid-fire Plasma.
