this is also on the fluff board, but here:

Elan'Eoro

Elan'Eoro was Born and Raised in space, Living in the comfort of the long-range wayststion Morning Light. His early experience on the morning light during the recclamation of the Damocles Gulf gave him a greater sense of the importance of having a strong leader that would not falter under pressure. He admired Commander Farsight's vigilence in battle and how he kept a calm head while in the midst of battle, aspiring to becoming an eaven leader than he was. In the Gulf, he became Personally Close with all the Castes and Personel of the Morning light, and the came to revere him, especially after an emergency where the Aun in charge of the station became incapacitated during a bording attack from a imperal fleet, in which he took over command of the station and the fleet, saving all the Tau in the fleet using his tactial genius to repell the Imperals, destroying half their fleet while only losing 3 Orca escorts in the chaos. Upon returning from the Damocles Gulf, The Ethereals of T'au recognised his Genius and connection to the station, and placed him in charge of the station. Under Elan'Eoro's guidance, the Morning Light and it's child fleets have seen a great number of victories, both on the ground and in space. He is currently training new Field Commanders and Fleet Captains, teaching them of the speed and power the wield, while reminding them to never forget why they fight, for the greater good and for their proud Empire.

Past Battles/Campains: The Damocles Gulf recclamation, the assault on the space hulk Geahsmashah, and the rescure of Demiurg Stronghold ship Canderous.

Go to the Fluff board, and read the sticky called "Tau'va: Tel'Oshi." That's the bulk (but not all) of my main character backgrounds.

on topic

Shas'o Dal'yth Castris Lar'shi Kir'quath

Currently involved in the Golgothan Campaign, he is rallying his contingent to the forefront of the fighting, however, due to unique circumstances, he is no longer in charge of the entire contingent. Shas'o BOrk'an Cicero was placed in command of Ka'vaal Doran'ro, and Shas'o Scivi, CAstris's lifelong friend, assigned himself to the Ka'vaal for hunting down marines. However, as is true to Castris's temperament, he took his personal cadre, Fueris, and two others to assist in hunting down Orks and NEcrons, his main opponents at the time. Whatever form the Golgothan Inqurgency takes, Castris hopes to reunits his Contingent, and return to the Empire, victorious, with new worlds for the Tau.

Cheers!

I am new to 40k so I'm not up on all the backstory on the Tau (the specifics, I've got the basics down alright) but he's my main concept.

so what your saying is that oven cleaner can remove paint from plastic models? and after that, you take a toothbrush to your plastic model, and the paint just comes off?

Shas'O Vior'la Xykos Kais, is at present one of Farsights Commanders, an experianced soldier who has faught many battles, won many victories, and experianced loss, as any, only one defeat...but a servre defeat. Armed with a Fusion blaster, and a plasma rifle, he unleshes a salvo of withering fire power, which can render even a terminator into a pile of molten slag. He does not hesitate to charge into the fray, using his combat baldes that adorn his weapons to hack the enemy to pieces. Xykos "aquired" an experimental XV89 battlesuit, which has taken a beating through the years, but remains strong.

He also carries a shield generator which he modified, which has saved him many times, often from stray Lascannon blasts, that could reduce a tank to smoldering ruins. Quickstrike is loyal, and deadly, and as his name implies, fast.

Despite the XV8's bulky appearence, the suits are highly dexterious, this varies from user to user, but many-a-times a foolish enemy has underestimated the dexterity of a suit, only to have thier body crushed by the suits foot, or sent flayaling into a wall after making contact with a strike form the arm or foot.

Farsights XV8 pilots adorn thier suits with combat blades, that are often aligned along the ranged arms, which the user will strike out with, with a motion that will send an enemy flying or cut them in two. They will also use the feet to crush any enemy underfoot, who was too naive to move from the path of a suit jump.

Shas'O Sa'cea Suam'sha'is Ar'tyr

As with most Tau commanders of note, much can be learned about Ar'tyr by the names he has acquired over the years. "Suam'sha'is" is translated loosely into Gothic as "Flamewind", a tribute to the tactics the commander employs. His foes must advance through a blistering hail of pulse fire, those few that survive finding that his forces have melted away again, as elusive as the air that has given him his name.

However, the most interesting of his titles is "Ar'tyr". This word does not translate into Gothic as easily as other parts of the Tau language. The closest literal translation would be "High Blood" though this translation is inadequate to fully explain the title. In order to grasp the full meaning of the term, two equally valid translations must be taken into account. The suffix "tyr" is most commonly used in "Mont'yr" which literally means "blooded" or veteran. The suffix "Ar" is used as an honourific, literally meaning "High". On one hand, this title is a testament to the Shas'O's experience, and exceptional skills as a warrior. The other possible translation sheds more light on his true nature. The phrase "High Blood" is espescially unique on a Shas'O, as the Tau have never had a nobility or class system outside the Ethereal Caste. It refers not to the Shas'O's own pedigree, but that which he places on his race.

In recent years, more and more alien auxiliaries have been inducted into the glorious Tau Empire. The increasing numbers of such aliens have forced every facet of the Empire to adapt to this new age. Perhaps the most changed of these elements is the Fire Caste. Fire Caste doctrine is constantly adapting to effectively harness the strengths and weaknesses of a plethora of races. However, some Commanders still believe that the ritual of the hunt can only truly be trusted to a Tau, that the Tau are the only race with the ample mix of strength, courage, and honour to defend the Empire. Shas'O Ar'tyr is one of the most notorious of these. He has openly refused to accept any alien forces under his command unless specifically ordered to by a member of the Ethereal Caste. Somewhat more alarmingly, he has shown so much contempt for the Auxillaries he has encountered that some have likened his beliefs to those of the Imperium. On one of the rare occasions when he has been confronted about this, he is quoted as follows:

"Hatred? Does a bird of prey have any hatred in its heart for the rodents it strikes down? No. Whether the other races serve us, flee from us, or die by our hands is none of my concern. It is we, and the union of our castes, that will unite the stars. All other concerns are inconsequential to the fullifment of our destiny."

This utter contempt for aliens can be traced back to a traumatic event in Ar'tyr's past. Ar'tyr had recentley been appointed Shas'el, and was tasked with the destruction of a group of Blood Angels operating on a Tau world. Other Tau Commanders studying the event afterwards (one of which later became O'Shasserra herself) all agreed that his battle plans were perfect, and that the ambush should have resulted in the utter destruction of the Space Marine taskforce. However, a unit of Kroot in his Cadre, tasked with flanking the Marines and engaging their heavy weapons, disobeyed orders and charged into the oncoming Assault Squads. Not only were the Kroot ruthlessly butchered, but the Tau forces were unable to fire on the Blood Angels for fear of hitting their allies. This interruption allowed the Assualt Squads to reach Tau lines all but unscathed, as the Tau transports were shot down by the Devastators the Kroot were supposed to engage. The result was a bloodbath of an apalling scale, every single soldier but Ar'tyr himself being hacked apart in the resulting melee. Among the dead were the Shas'O's bodyguards and bond brothers.

In that same conflict however, Ar'tyr is confirmed to have killed the (previously unscathed) Chaplain accompanying the force in melee combat. This feat was almost unheard of amongst Fire Caste warriors, and Ar'tyr took from it a lesson that has stayed with him to this day. The Tau, and by extension, the Fire Caste, were capable of surmounting any obstacle as long as their will was strong enough to do so. He has an almost religious belief in the abilities and courage of his Caste, a trait that has had some comparing him with the Space Marines of the Imperium.

Regardless of his somewhat unorthadox behaviour (reference: http://forums.tauonline.org/index.php?topic=39359.0 http://fallofmedusa.tauonline.org/in...pic,357.0.html) Ar'tyr has proven himelf a capable and loyal servant of the Tau'va. Whilst he is by no means a strategic genius such as O'shaserra and Puretide, his skills as a warrior, combined with the absolutle bond of faith and trust he shares with his men, has so far proved that ingenuity, courage, and above all else, unity, can ensure that the Tau will one day conquer the stars.

My commander is the polar opposite of Faolin's. Shas'el Sa'cae Lyi'ot also happens to command Kavaal Es’cea’va’cha in this summer's Golgothan Campaign. So!
The ore deposits were not worth the lives of the ten thousand Imperial citizens living in the colony. The empire can always find more deposits of adamantine. What we cannot replace, what we will need if the Empire is stretch across the stars, is the gratitude of a mother who will not have to see her son die in needless conflict over rocks.
- Shas’el Lyi’ot, in defense of his actions during the Ackor III Uprising

Shas’el Sa’cea Lyi’ot is an exemplar of the Tau’va – his actions, both on and off of the battlefield, speak of a life dedicated to finding the greater good of all. Like all Tau, Lyi’ot holds the Ethereals in the utmost regard, trusting their words and wisdom even more than his own speech.

This being said, Lyi’ot understands the stoic wisdom of the Ethereals does not always accord with the rapidly changing nature of the battlefield. In these situations, Lyi’ot holds one tenet before all others: the Tau’va is about the preservation of sentient life. This rather unorthodox implementation of the Tau’va leads Lyi’ot to be unusually critical of his fellow Fire Caste commanders. Lyi’ot feels that they too readily let the “realities” of the battlefield blind them to the truth of the Tau’va – that the greater good of all, not just the Tau, must be upheld. Lyi’ot will only grudgingly resort to employing the might of his cadre, believing the Tau'va is best served through reliance on peace and compromise.

For his dissenting nature, Lyi’ot is held in low regard by influential members of the Tau military command. In their eyes, his reliance on diplomacy and inordinate care for xenos life prevent him from acting decisively, endangering the lives of his men and undermining the position of the Tau Empire.

To avoid divisive arguments in the military command, Lyi’ot often requests engagements against the two enemies he has no qualms fighting – the Y’he and Mont’ray. His superiors are quick to grant him command; these assignments often take him to isolated outposts and barren death worlds, far from the heart of the Empire. Uniquely, his cadre wears bright ceremonial green, symbolizing the life they are returning to these planets.

But Lyi’ot’s interpretation of the Tau’va makes him well suited for another type of military action – the policing of recently occupied Imperial cities. In a twist of fate, Lyi’ot has spent his military career traveling from the desolate periphery of the Empire to the urban jungles in its core.

Lyi’ot prizes the unique skills each auxiliary race brings to the Tau Empire, and incorporates them into his cadre every chance he gets. He has excellent relations with the Kroot, and it is even rumored that Gue’vesa squads attached to his cadre are in all respects treated as Tau Fire Warriors, with access to the same equipment and weaponry.

+++

Lyi’ot should, by all rights, never have received command of a Kavaal, much less one in the important Golgothan system. His lack of friends in the the military command aside, his low rank alone immediately disqualified him. But Shas’o Dal’yth Tal’Vor’an, commander of the Golgothan campaign, had previously served alongside Lyi’ot is an engagement against the Mont’ray. Remembering Lyi’ot’s courage and strength of character, the Shas’o would accept no substitute.

Shas'o 'Plasmamoon' is a character very devastating to both the Tau and Imperium, as he has no other title than Plasmamoon as he was born on Ta'u, yet raised on Kronus, by a poor family who named him Plasmamoon, as his arm was stained with plasma on the night of the full moon. After the that, he returned to Ta'u to finally join the Fire Caste, and was a pupil of both Farsight and Shadowsun, yet then they were only Shas'vre rank.

As a Shas'ui team leader, he faced many choices turned to him, and had fought toe to toe with feral kroot on the moon Charnus IV, a jungle moon, not very far from the places now known as the Farsight Enclaves. He grew to be a soldier, and at the rank of Shas'el, he was taught yet again by Farsight, who was at that stage a Shas'o. He hen fought by Farsight in the Damocles Gulf, and achieved great victories. When Farsight became a renegade, he joined him, admiring his skill. But when the dark time came for when Farsight to serve the Necron'tyr, the Shas'el couldn't grasp it, so he pushed out of the Enclaves and fled to Vior'la, where he knew a great friend called Aun'el 'Pacifier'. The time after that, Plasmamoon was called onto the frontlines in a sector on Kronus called the Rhean Jungle. He led many firewarriors, but even more Kroot. He remembered how Kroot liked to fight, so he used them wisely as an essential piece of the puzzle in his arsenal. When he reached the rank of Shas'o, he first led attacks against Tyranid Hive Fleets, devastating the aliens. But after that, and even now, he crusades further and further to the holy planet, Terra.
