Default Taking on "Movie Marines" next Thursday - Help

OK everyone, next week I'm going to take on the movie Marine roster from White Dwarf 300. I'm thinking about 2500 pt limit (I know that the roster in WD300 was only for 1500... but what the heck! =^.^=) for a good long game. Now what I would want to know is how you would take this kind of roster on.

I've got the following:

44 Fire Warriors (2 squads of 12 and 2 of 10)
3 Hammerhead gunships (2 rail, 1 Ion)
9 Sniper Drones
17 or so Crisis Suits (2 of them are the XV-84 Suits with Markerlight)*
- (4 Fire Knife, 3 Helios, 6 Death Rain, 1 BC/PR suit, 1 CIB/PR/MP)
4 Stealth Suits
2 Devilfish
3 Broadsides (1 with Plasma Rifles)
16 Pathfinders
8 Gun Drones
1 Farsight

Now if you had this to work with... what you take? What kind of strategy would you use? Has anyone else taken on a Movie Marine Roster and won? I would like to know.

* don't know exactly what types I have... I'll get an accurate type listing tomorrow.

Basically, a standard "Movie Marine" has the stats of a Carnifex carrying a weapon that is significantly better than an assault cannon. And all of the heavier weapons have been upgraded by a similar amount. But there are only about six or seven models in a 1,500-point army.

You should treat this battle as if you were fighting something worse than a Godzilla Nid list, and it really is. Except that he is still going to get saves against all of your weapons (including Railguns!) given his odd special rules. I wouldn't expect to win. That army list was intended to be sort of a joke, and should be treated as one.

First, Farsight can't be used with all that mech. Second, where are the suits?

I've seen the godzilla nids list, but they are big, slow, and easy to blow apart. Not sure about movie marines.

Here is a link to the rules, but in German.

http://www.games-workshop.de/warhamm...lluloid/1.shtm

They are not as slow as Godzilla nids, and basically every weapon they have is AP4 or better and Rending. And fires 4+ shots.

This is easy to beat, just play gundam crisis suits! They can jump, fly, dodge projectiles, carry a laser sword that can cut through anything. Don't forget they also have WAY too many guns strapped to the suit, allowing them to wipe out entire armies in a single salvo.

Can't you only use one unit of every thing except FW and C suits.
With Farsight.
Just asking?

for movie marines, take all the sniper drones, as few fire warriors as possible, and as much plasma, ion, and raildeath you can muster. Khanaris is right about the guns being insane, and they have so much crap. Let me give you a legal (hopefully) run down:

HQ

sergeant that can match the stats of a blood thirster anyday with an assalt cannon as a gun, a power weapon

Elites

lesser version of sergeant, only rending

Troops

marines with bolters... basically assault cannons w/ better range, and they all have rending, and the rule that makes gaunts move so fast

Fast Attack

Flamer marine of death, and rhino with a storm bolter of 8 shots, and rending

Heavy Support

Missile launcher dude that has a hammerhead railgun, but two shots

razorback's TL lascannon = death. kill it as fast as humanly possible!!!

all have crazy special rules, and don't die for a really long time. Focus fire as much as you can, and don't be suprised when they get saves against railguns...

hope this is copyright legal... if it isn't, kill it Khanaris, if you will

Cheers!

It's fine. - Khanaris

I looked over the German page... I got a translation in English. I didn't see any invulnerable saves. I did see fleet of foot... .considering that every gun is assault... I don't see him charging much.

I have a farsight model... considering that I will only use one each of Broadsides, Hammerheads, and sniper drones... I could use him and still be good with the rules.

As for suits...

I am hoping that GW would make a Tau version of Deathwing someday in the future.
