Default Tau New Commander

I don't know where to post this, so I posted it here.
My friends and I we play WH40K, but we don't play with vehicles. We use infantry and 0-2 Troop Transports. So, I my friends said that the Tau Commander WAS a vehicle. So, here I propose an Infantry Commander. He is something like an Experienced Firewarrior, but it hasn't has any battlesuit.

Tau Fire Commander:
WS: 3
BS: 3
S: 3
T: 3
W: 2
I: 3
A: 2
L: 10
S: +3

It's cheesy or not?

He's like a crappy space marine commander. In my oppinion the statline is BAD, but hey, were Tau, we use brains not brawns. The cheesines would depend on how you equip him.

Thanks for the answer.
Now, I'm going to say that he is not the BIG man, but he serves well the role of an Officer or a Commander in Combat Patrol.
And he can be equipped with: Pulse Rifle, Pulse Carbine, EMP grenades and Photon Grenades.

Use the stats of the Shas'O and Shas'El battle suit commanders. Subtract one wound and attack from each profile. Lower the strengh to 3, and Toughness to 3. And lower armour save to 4+. And that's practically a Tau commander minus the battle suit.

If you apply the modifications Locky suggests, you'll also want to drop the cost by about 30-40 points.

Eew! It's very unfluffy. The reason that commanders are mounted in battlesuits is so they have good mobility and are able to command their troops all over the battlefield.
Also, where do this 'battlesuits are tanks' thing come from? Terminators are closer to tanks than crisis suits

Whilst a Crisis Suit is very mechanical, for game purposes it is purely infantry. It's got the toughness of a Space Marine, the same save, and only one extra wound. While they are really nasty with the right guns, they don't qualify for vehicle status.

Simply I don't like the "mechanized warriors" concept (that was the reason I leave the SM). I like Infantry. And I know that the battlesuit, for rule purpose, is infantry, but I dislike it.

It's good, I like it. I made a similar variant some time back via subtracting out suit mods...here you go:

Shas'O on Foot:

WS 4, BS 5, S3, T3, W3, I3, A4 Ld 10, Sv 4+

Equipped with Rail Rifle AND pulse pistol or Pulse Rifle or Pulse Carbine. Has emp and photon grenades, all HW infantry wargear.

May be mounted in a hammerhead with normal options for HH cost and an additional 20 pts.

If not, he may have an honor guard, chosen as from the etherial honor guard.

If he takes neither option, any unit within 12" may test using his LD. He may purchase drones in any case except if in a HH.

Cost: 100pts
