better in close combat? We both still hit on 4+ for most forces same toughness value for both of us. Did he play deepstrike heavy? I have seen such an IG army. (cheap deepstrikers with naders and plasma guns) it was very good against just about every army, but one slip up and he went splat quick.

Wiat, krak grenades? Missiles I can understand, but grenades don't have as much power or AP as the missiles.

so what your saying is that oven cleaner can remove paint from plastic models? and after that, you take a toothbrush to your plastic model, and the paint just comes off?

:Guardsmen are approximatley 6 points each. You'll see that for almost every squad you can take, the number is about Men*6.

Guardsmen can be played well, and guardsmen can be played poorly. Simple as that.

Oh, and enough Krak Grenades will still take down a suit.

It's not, but it doesn't matter when they are a dime a dozen.

I've barely started collecting tau and I haven't had a first game yet. I'm keen to start, but I'm worried if I should escape while I still can and collect Orks (which have the uncertainty factor of having a new codex in the future) because of the "Tau are boring and easy- It's just shoot shoot win" talk.

As you said, the I.Guard players should use their straights to the full, but I'm still concerned- Can I play Tau with the pride of a fair battle?
