Unfortunately, they ding you two ways on FW models. First, the models themselves, secondly, the rules. Taros Campaign is the main one for tau. Skyray rules have been superceded by codex ones, though.

However, Gue'vsa and TX-42 rules ARE downloadable, and can be found by searching these forums(not at home or I'd link em"

Gue'Vesa are on the main GW site. Go to the Tau, and click on the "Gaming" thing, its near the bottom.

TX-42 "Expiramental" rules are on the ForgeWorld site. Go to FW, click on "Downloads". Its near the middle.

Otherwise, for rules, you've got to shell out $100 USD + for a Imperial Armor book.

Yup... but we all buy Codicies and the 40k rulebook, so aside from the 5X greater than codex price it ain't so bad.

It's about as much as the limited edition rulebook was (the one with gilt edging and leather cover)

They're on average >250 pages so you get a solid chunk of book for your money.

Well it's not, it's more of a luxury item. FW doesn't exactly have a large clientele.

I'd argue that the high prices are a big part of that. If it were, say, fifty bucks, I'd pick it up. I could probably go slightly higher than that, but a hundred is just too much, especially considering I won't use the vast majority of the book ever anyhow.

Of all the cash I've dropped on this silly hobby, I consider the money spent on IA3 to be the most worthwhile. It's an amazing book. Of course it's a slippery slope. As soon as you start reading about all those cool unit and seeing color action shots of all those amazing models, it's hard to resist buying them!
