Default Seeker Missiles

Using markerlights it's possible to fire a single seekermissile from a model wearing a missile pod. Can you also fire from a model wearing smart missile systems, like an XV88? And if so, does it also fire a single missile or does it get to fire two missiles, since it is wearing two such missile systems?

No. You can only fire seeker missile from vehicles and those you have to buy for 10 pts each. They are one shot only but can do lots of damage. Skyrays have six seekers and two markerlights. Smart missile sytems only allow for the 4 S5 shots to ignore cover between them and the target. Missile pods can only fire 2 S7 shots and that's it. Reread the rules for them one more time and you will see. If it doesn't explicitly state that a weapon can do something it can't.

Um, not at all. I suggest you re-read about seeker missiles. Seekers are auxillery systems fitted to most Tau vehicles to provide long range firepower at the request of the squad leaders/etc. No crisis suit can carry a seeker, and Seekers, Missile Pods, and smart missiles are 3 totally different weapons.

Seeker - long range, no LOS heavy fire support
Missile Pod - medium range, anti-infantry/light vehicle missiles
SMS - short range, no LOS anti infantry anti cover missiles.

That explains a lot. So the seeker missiles are those cruise-missiles on the Skyray? Any suggestions on how to make them if you don't have a Skyray and want to use two of them on a Hamerhead instead?

1 Seeker comes with each Tau Vehicle (excepting Piranha). It's right there on the sprue.

Okay, didn't know that. I got my Tau army second hand and the guy who sold it to me tossed out everything he hadn't glued on. Too bad, but still worth the price. I'll get my seekers then when I expand my army with new models.

All you need to do is buy a Skyray box whenever you next want to pick up a Hammerhead. The Skyray boxed set contains all the parts to build a normal Hammerhead, plus an extra sprue with all of the Skyray bits. And they are the same price. And you get a bunch of useful conversion parts plus the 6 Seekers (plus the Seeker on the vehicle frame). That should be about all you ever need.

Forgeworld still sells sets of Seeker missiles too.

I wish they sold the one's that came with the old FW Skyray though, those missiles looked the best IMO.

Now that I look at it, I guess they could be cut from wood quite easily, don't you think?
