Default Shas'El Config questions

Hey guys I asked it before, but no one responded straight to it.
In depth of my dump of a desk, a new Crisis suit is being build from scratch. I can't finish him because I have to choose gear and weapons for him first.

Ok hear we go, My army is going to be mech based. With main tank "fist/ram", several (quite a few I would say) infiltrators and some flanking stuff.

So I need a commander for this. He is going to be Shas'El.

I have 2 roles for him. Either support flankers/infiltrators OR support "ram".

Ok now for configs->

I though of some and can't find much. So hear what I have ->

Base weapons ->

Storm surge Shas'El + BC + F = 70 (cheap, high str, versatile, 4 shots, short range)
Storm Blade Shas'El + BC + PR = 78 (moderate, hight str 4-3 shots, short - moderate AP/range )
Aurora Shas'El + CIB + PR = 85 (expensive, low str, 6-7 shots, medium range, good AP, chance of Ap 1, versatile)
Shas'El + CIB + F = 77 (moderate, low str, 6 shots, Possable superior AP, short range)
Shas'El + CIB + Missile = 77 (moderate, low str, 7 shots, moderate AP, long to short range)

Gear -> My biggest problem

Command sets
C&C node + HW MT (+ steam pack) = 15(25)
Position Relay + HW MT (+ steam pack) = 20(30)

Battle sets
Targeting array + HW MT (+ steam pack) = 15(25)
Shield Generator + HW MT (+steam pack) = 25(35)


...
.....

Ok... So Some advise WOULD BE NICE. Thanx in advance

P.S. Why no fire knife/death rain? well I can't stand being so typical...

Don't bother putting burst cannons on Suits, let alone your commander. If you want Burst cannons, grab a unit of stealths.

CIB/PR/TA/HW-MT is a decent combination from what you have listed. Or the MP over the PR, either works. A Shas'el doesn't have the greatest LD (only 1 point above 'uis), so i wouldn't really give him a C&C node. Save that for a Commander who has purely long ranged weaponry (Deathrain), and will just sit in with the rest of the army.

A commander with shorter range weapons, like the CIB will not allow you to utilize the C&C node very well. I'd take the TA + HW-MT.

If you can't stand being typical, pick the Aurora suit. CIB, PR, TA, HW-MT. It comes in at just 100 points, 3 points above the Fireknife. It also has some great anti-infantry utility.

[Shrugs] These are just suggestions, its still all up to you. Have some games with different configurations, see which works best for you.

I'll second the recommendation for the following suit:

Shas'El (100)
- [Plasma, CIB, Target Array, HWMT]

He's nicknamed the 'Centurion' on account of his 100 pt pricetag. He's a good "default" commander in a take-all-comers setting as he can effectively engage all types of infantry from IG, to Eldar, to Marines, Terminators, and even T6 Monstrous Creatures. The only thing he lacks is vehicle killing power, but you should have plenty of that elsewhere in the list.

The Centurion won't make you "different" though. He's become a standard feature for many Tau players... probably because he's so good

Yeah, it is hard to be unique with Tau. Most of the weapons are actually lame for the role the crisis is supposed to fill. Configs like:

TL flamer and TA
Fusion blaster, burst cannon, flamer
TL fusion blaster, flamer
CIB, flamer, MTrack
TL burst cannon, fusion blaster

All of these are fairly unique in that no one would really run them except to have a laugh. Some configs that can work for very specific roles, but are rarer than the usual are:

TL fusion blaster, TA = deep striking tank buster
Fusion blaster, plasma, MT = Light vehicle killer
CIB, burst cannon, MT = ork, IG and guardian slayer
TL missile pod, TA = meduim range artillery battery

I use some of these from time to time, but it is hard to get away from the MP and Plasma combo for optimum performance in a general setting. I do however, run one crisis team that is slightly less typical:

TLMP, Target array, teamleader w/HWTL
second suit with TLMP, BC

It operates as a missile battery, but has the secondary role of removing soft infantry if necessary. I sometimes vary the unit by exchanging flamer for the burst cannon in city fight.

I agree with him so totally, it's rather entertaining ^_^

I recommend the 'Centaurion' config for a shas'el, and if you want a support commander, take a Shas'o with a missile pod, CACN, and a positional relay. 112 points for lots of support. Deathrain config on a commander = useless thanks to high BS. however, fireknife on commanders is okay because of the high BS
