Default The Uses for Everything

I am compiling a list of every equipment and weapon for new players. i wish to have some help. hopefully this will be possably moved to Important allowing for it to be sticky for new players. here are the guidelines

1 say what it does
2 how is it used
3 Do not say that you use it or dont (if you should use a lot or few is allowed)
4 Any short hand for it such as SMS for Smart missile systems.
Example

Advanced Stabilization System -
~Creates the Slow and Purposeful on the unit: moves the highest of 2D6 and allows the unit to fire guns as if stationary
~This is mainly used on broadsides allowing it to move and shoot. this is great ageist enemies hiding behind buildings so you can move and fire at them allowing a shot every turn.

Cyclic Ion Blaster
~it spews out 5 weak rounds
~if you roll a 6 on To wound, you get an AP1 shot
~this gun is mainly used against a huge swarm of low-toughness enemies (ex Gaurdsmen) to cause massive amounts of casualties. Some times used to take out heavy units with low saves
~abbreviation: CIB

Rail Rifle
~shoots out a single , powerful S6 round from a medium range
~it has pinning from a good distance
~Used as the Tau version of a sniper rifle or to protect a flank
~can take out medium infantry with ease
~Used to deny an enemy Victory Points

i will continuously edit this message to add one by one. post suggestions as you wish or comments how to make explanations better

Okay. This is something I've wanted to do for a while now. And to start off,

Cyclic Ion Blaster

~it spews out very many weak rounds
~if you roll a 6 on To Hit, you get an AP1 shot
~this gun is mainly used against a huge swarm of low-toughness enemies (ex Gaurdsmen) to cause massive amounts of casualties
~abbreviation: CIB

~it has pinning and easily penetrates armor
~Used as the Tau version of a sniper rifle or to protect a flank
~can take out medium infantry with ease
~Used to deny an enemy Victory Points when put on Sniper Drones
~abreviations: PWNAGE ;D

I think that's what it is, but I can't find my codex, so if I'm wrong can someone point it out?

Missile Pod
~Two Strength 7 shots per turn
~Rips through transports and light vehicles (AV11 or less)
~Relatively good vs GEQs
~Used primarily in an anti-vehicle role, but can be effective against weaker infantry

Airbursting Fragmentation Projector
~Fires a Large Template, so gets decent coverage
~Scatters, only 1D6", but it can throw off your shot
~Quite weak, only really useful against massed hordes
~Ignores cover so good against hordes that like to hide in forests etc

Fusion Blaster
~Fires a Single Strength 8 shot
~Can reduce enemy characters to puddles of goo with 1 shot
~Can nuke any tank at <6"
~Punches through armour like a hot knife through butter

This looks to me like you're just re-writing the wargear section of the codex...

Ditto.

I don't really see how this is any different from just.. say looking at the reference sheet? Aside from making it considerably more verbose and less straight-forward in getting the info that people might want.

Should also try to keep the stating of weapon stats to a minimum...

I guess your objective here is good, but perhaps all we really need is the reference sheet, and a list of each weapon/item, (hopefully) an objective view of how it should be used (and/or all possible relevant uses), along with any commonly used abbrevations. And hopefully try and support the view with some tactical and/or statistical basis...
