Default Hammerheads: Ion Cannons or Railguns

So, the classic question. Railguns, or Ion cannons? I think my answer is obvious, but I'll leave the voting to you. ;D

I hope to see the NOBODY picks the last option.

Heyas.

I chose the railgun, but a lot of people would actually say one of each- I run 1 Ionhead and 1 Railhead in my army. 8) Both are excellent weapons, just suited for different things- the Railgun is better against heavy armor and light troops, while the Ionhead is better against marines and light armor.

Also, a few people will choose the last one- For Static Tau, Broadsides and Sniper drones are a better option, not to mention the ever-useful Skyray.

Ion Cannons because more shots is more chances to hit something. And they're useful for all those MEQ armies out there.
I get my main anti-tank elsewhere with Fusion Piranhas and Sunforge suits.

The Tau'va demands I use the right weapon for the job.
Heavy Tank? Broadsides
Some armor and some infantry? Railhead
Moderate to heavy MEq? Ion Head/Sniper Drone Teams

Simple.

Unfortunatly I have horrible luck with railguns the only way I ever hit is with the TL rails on Broadsides. With just one or even two hammer heads with rail they never seem to hit. So I field two Ions and two Phiranna with FB

Personally, I've always been a big fan of three. One with rail, two with ion. The only real force that would be a problem for them would be a collection of monoliths, as my supporting fusion blasters would do poorly at taking them down, and one rail wouldnt be enough.

I understand. For the 6 people who chose the last option, IM SORRY!. I though, Personally am gonna have a little bit of everything. I don't really want the sniper drones.
By the way gator, Why do you think sheild drones are a waist of points?

Well, I'm on the fence here. Normally I'd say RAILGUNS FTW!, but Ion Cannons DEFINITELY have their uses. While the Railgun is arguably the best gun in the game "pwnage" wise, the Ion Cannon has to be one of the best guns in the game for the cost.

I mean, DUDE! It costs the same as a Marine, but it is likely to kill 3 per turn. Who can't love that?
