Default Playing on a team with Markerlights?

Hey guys,
I love to play team battles with my mech Tau and always run a squad of pathfinders. When its just my friends and I playing I often use MY marker lights to boost the BS of my friends squads, which aren't Tau. I know this isn't correct fluff-wise, or probably rule wise for that matter, but my friends all agreed that its OKAY. What do you guys think? Should I be able to do this, or is it completely absurd?

-House

Thanks in advance!

using marker lights to increase the Bs of non-Tau units is not legal unless the units are vespids. It says this in the codex.

If it's a house rule(ok, so I love terrible puns), go nuts, but normally, nah, thats not how they're used.

Yea, thats what I thought. But, if you think about it, using a laser to target enemies could essentially increase allies BS if they had been equiped with the same sensor unit that the Tau use. But like Tyndmry said, its just a house rule still ;D.

Thanks anyways .

Trust me, I'd love to do that when playing on a team with my neighbor's 'Nids...... They may be my second army!

Haha, ML's with nids would be amazing . It's to bad that GW doesn't make specific team rules in say, "White Dwarf" about how certain armies could be compatable together and use each others upgrades and transports. Only to a degree of course ;D.

Hmm, yeah, I'll have to agree on all previously brought up points, but what about two Tau Armies playing together? Could one say use his Markerlights to Target unit A and then have the other fire with improved BS? And another thing, can I call in my ally's seekers? If so, who gets the VPs?

This is something to work out with all players before the games starts. 40k was not really written with cooperative play in mind, so there are a few grey areas you may need house rules to cover. For Tau, you also have to worry about how Ethereal rules will work. With Necrons, Tyranids, and Orks, there are a bunch of odd rule problems to work out. Even Imperial armies have a few places where this issue comes up (Relics).

In general, decide before the game if the teams count as "one army" or not. There are exceptions, but many issues stem from that. Really, its up to ya'll, and its not a huge deal, so long as it's sorted out in advance.
