Default Are Gue'vesa worthwhile?

I bought the Megaforce and already have enough firewarriors. I'm considering buying a box of Cadian shock troops to make Gue'vesa. Apart from being fodder, a cheap source of markerlight and the fact they can carry emp's do they bring something strategic to the table that kroot or simply extra static firewarriors can't?

They are not that much cheaper than firewarriors and they are only an extra point less than kroot but only carry a lasgun. They do however look cool and it would be nice to have a different looking unit on the table. I need to make my mind up, what do you guys who have used them think?

I don't actually use them, so I don't know if my opinion counts but I definately will (use them).

You did pick out most of their benefits in your intro though. They are also better in combat than Fire Warriors and can be used to hold the front line.

i find that Guevessa are good inexpensive expendable Unit to Guard your flanks. They wont be as effective as kroot in assault but they actually have armor

You've pretty well summed Gue'Vesa up. The other thing they're good for is Markerlights. So have 2 units of 10, 2 Rifles in each and a Markerlight and you've got a pretty decent team. Put them where there's a good chance of CC because they're better than Tau at it, and once they get assaulted, move your Tau back to about 18" and surround the combat. Once it's over, shoot any surviving baddies.

Eh, I just take them in six man squads, and upgrade em. The ones with pulse rifles are as effective as firewarriors at range, a point cheaper, and a markerlight in a relatively cheap squad is really nice. Basically, you can get two pulse rifles, a markerlight and three lasguns for a mere sixty points. If you've got troop slots to spare, it's a great support option.

From a fluff wise perspective, I'm only going to give my Team Leader Tau Weaponry... I know this makes the squad less effective but it's just great to be able to use some different looking models.

Plus they can hold objectives while your more expensive, effective units move up to secure any others.

Sigh, Y'xauk Alqueda there were kamikazi fighters way before them. Shall I bring up the IRA

It's exactly what my gue'vesa are gunna do though. Equip them with emps and run them straight into the enemy line.
