Default Hey, I hate Space marines

OK how come when ever i play with tau, space marines DESTROY my team, my team is not the best but what unit good for killing the spacemarines? ???

What army list do you use? Maybe you just need to implement better tactics. It's not always about what units you have.

uhm, any tau unit can kill space marines. The secret is concenrating on one unit until it is dead and then move onto the next one. Even better, would be to isolate one unit and have your whole army crush them all at once in a place where they can't be seen. Unfortunatly, tau on foot can run into problems with space marines, esspecaly when it comes to their use of heavy bolters which break our fire warriors range. +, even though we have better guns, they can stand up to our shooting better than we can to theirs, esspecialy because of heavy weapons. A good way to punish that is sniper drones, because space marin es have to move in closer to spot them... Ion cannons on hammerheads are cheap and mean, run them at 130 points with burst cannons.

Massed pulse shots kill marines (24 pulse shots will kill 1-2 marines at BS3, just work off of that)
sniper drones kill marines
plasma rifles kill marines

Anything guided by Marker lights kills marines good.

Kill things that will get into CC next turn first
Kill things that are fastest and can engage in you in CC next,
then (if you have tanks) kill things that can hurt your tanks in shooting
then kill everything else

Try those and call me in the morning :P

2 squads fire

2 kroot

2 hounds

2 deveilfish

a alot of drones

3 steath siuts and

the undying spirt with 2 honor guards(HQ)

Tl plasma rifles on crisis work wonders against marines when combined with targeting array. they are each nearly guaranteed 1 kill per shot.

even if you kill all but one of them, don't worry about wasteing another squad of firewarriors on him, just get him dead!

First of all, I wouldn`t waste my time with Aun`Va, as he costs a load of points and doesn`t do much for your army - well, admittedly, he DOES much for your army, but this is easily offset by the big sign on his head "shoot me! shoot me fast!".

Second, fighting Marines depends on the sort of Marines you face - CC, shooty, lots of vehicles? You catch my drift; we ned the infos about this to be of any help :-*

I second that. I was rather hesitant to use this combination at first, but it really pays off. Sure, itr is quite expensive (clocks in at 65 pts per Crisis), but it`s worth it - especially if Terminators deepstrike into Rapid Fire range... >

I don't think anyone will disagree that this is 200+ points worth of nothing :-\ You have the ability to greatly improve your chances just by changing your HQ choice.

If, for example you were to drop Aun'Va, you could pick up on a Crisis HQ Shas'El, giving it a plasma rifle and secondary weapon of your choice, plus targeting array and hard-wire multitracker for around 100 points. If you took a Shas'O instead, you could fit more weapon systems on and still have a reasonable price, for example:
Shas'O - Plasma rifle, fusion blaster, missile pod, hard-wired mutlitracker
It's a total of 124 points.
That means you would still have enough to add another ~75 points worth of models. Think about that for a moment. It's another Crisis suit and then some. Or 2 more stealth suits (surprisingly good against marines as well) and a shield drone.

What I'm trying to drive home, is that you're playing 1300 points of Tau against 1500 points of Marines, and we don't need to take disadvantages like that. Just look at making your points worth it and you'll be way better off.

You might also want to see if you could get a second broadside onto that list. You're at a severe lack of anti-tank power, and 2 generally ensures you can take 1 down a turn as long as you have LoS. Plus, the plasma rifle option makes them good at killing marines.
Broadside Monat - Plasma rifles, ASS, hard-wired multitracker
~105 points each
(Is that right? I don't have my codex right here to check the price of a broadside)
