My army consists of the following:
O'shovah Aunshi Hammerhead Devilfish 10 stealth suits 28 kroots (2 units) 2 shapers (1 each unit) krootox 2 kroot hounds (other unit to krootox) 4 crisis suits (with 2 shield drones) 26 firewarriors 13 gun drones broadside battlesuit and finally 7 pathfinders Sorry for listing! I have played the necrons several times, and each time I get smashed into more pieces than god knows what. I try the tactic of sending most of my firepower down the flanks, to hit hard and with everything i got, but no matter what i can't wipe out a whole unit to stop the "we'll be back" roll. The necrons are the master of cheese, so anyone got any ideas how to grate these bitches? (sorry for the pun) How would u arrange the units i have there? Cheers Cloud |

Well I haven't played Necrons yet (in fact, I have yet to even finish making my Tau army), but why don't you try concentrating all of you fire (and I mean every single gun in range) on a single unit until you wipe it out. I'm sure even a Necron unit can't stand up to every single weapon in a Tau army?

Try the Necron Board, we have some helpful advice there.

If you want to rewrite the list you have, drop Aunshi. *Drop the shapers. Drop the krootoxen. *Probably drop the pathfinders and gun drones, as well. * *You can't take Kroot or Gun Drone squadrons if you are playing O'Shovah, nor can you take more than one unit of 6 stealth suits, so probably drop him, too. *Get rid of the shield drones on the Crisis, as they do more harm than good.
Use those points to get more Fire Warriors, Devilfish to mount them in, and possible another Hammerhead. *Bring the Kroot squads up to the full 20 and the Fire Warriors up to the full 12. *Reference the FoF sticky for an intro in using mobile Fire Warriors effectively. Against Necrons, your best friends are the Ion Cannon and the Plasma Rifle. *Concentrate enough fire from those weapons on exposed squads, and you should have no trouble. *Use your mobility to target the thinnest parts of his line. *Prioritize warrior units out on their own, as they will not be able to use proximity to other squads to get back up. *Necrons, on the whole, have a very low model count. *Since they have to worry about phasing out, they must take quite a few warriors. *This limits their mobility. *As such, you should maximise yours. If the monolith or a C'tan is on the table, do your best to avoid it. *Neither is particulary long-ranged and both are slow. *If you can't avoid it, rest assured that your Railguns are perhaps the best weapon in the game for taking down these particular enemies. |

O'shovah
Aunshi :Bad Hammerhead Devilfish 10 stealth suits 28 kroots (2 units) :not big enough units 2 shapers (1 each unit) :bad krootox :bad 2 kroot hounds (other unit to krootox) 4 crisis suits (with 2 shield drones) :drones are bad and not enough suits 26 firewarriors 13 gun drones broadside battlesuit and finally 7 pathfinders :got some problems and bad vs 'Crons that might be the core of the problem, I'd suggest checking the 'Cron board and rerwiting this list also look at the Fish of fury topic (proud ;D) the key units for going vs necrons are: Crisis w/plasma, HH w/ Ion cannon, FoF (fish of fury) investigate those and give us a points value for the battle and we'll see if we can help you out with a slightly more effective list

You might want to drop the Aunshi some of the stealth suits Krootox, shapers, and Kroot hounds and maybe the path finders. Get more moblie, Agaist Necrons I used the DF to get a better spot to stop them. Get more FW's and make em mobile if you can. Try the FoF if you can. There is a Know your enemy section, it is good. Good luck

Try low AP , high Strength weapons and play with more FW, Kroot and fireknife config crisis.
I hate HATE the penetrating effect of the 'Crons's weapons on vehicles, so I take broadsides and just one hh. Depending on the game, I'd play mostly : Ethereal Hammerhead IC 2*Devilfish 6 Crisis with Fireknife 40 kroots 48 firewarriors 3 broadside battlesuit cheers !

joeboy i hope you mean glancing effect becuase if not then you got royally screwed.
anyway as Elyas said you need to target one squad with everything you've got becuase if you can kill that one squad and there isnt another one within 6 inches then it get no we'll be back rolls, try using high ap like plasma and such, because the str wont matter because there will probably be a orb somewhere around there, so just getting the units down is all you can hope for. |
