Alright, I've got the Defence of Ichar IV coming up in just over a week, As many others do, But I need some help with my list.. Considering its only 400 Pts I've got as followed
HQ Ethereal Caste member - Symbols Of Office - 50 Pts Elites 2 x XV8 Crisis Battlesuits - Both W/ Plasma Rifle, Fusion Blaster, Missile Pod, 1 W/ Target Lock - 149 Pts Troops Fire Warrior Team [10] - 2 W/ Carbine - 100 Pts Fire Warrior Team [10] - 2 W/ Carbine - 100 Pts Total = 399pts

First I suggest you remove the Ethereal. If he dies in such a small battle you risk a lot with Price of Failure.
Second I advice in changing you Crisis configurations. Three weapons and only one of them firing a turn isn't really good. Drop one of the weapons and give them a Multi-tracker instead. The Target Lock is also a waste. In this small battle you will never need to split your fire. Finally I suggest to use the leftover points for more Fire Warriors and if this is not a 40k in 40 minutes scenario you have to buy a Shas'El as a HQ. Good luck! |

I'd suggest a mode flexible army, I'd also suggest you neer play 400 pts non combat patrol games
for this game though I'd go more like HQ Shas'el Fireknife 85pts Troops 20 Kroot 140pts 9FW -Bonded -Devilfish more flexible and has moreopportunities, 405pts.

I would definatley change the list accordingly, as I am playing in Defence of Ichar IV as well with my Tau.* Here is what I am using:
HQ Shas'el Aunat (Get it? lol) - Plasma Rifle, Burst Cannon, Multi-Tracker - 81pts Elites 1 x XV8 Crisis Battlesuits - Plasma Rifle, Burst Cannon, Multi-Tracker - 61pts 1x XV8 Crisis Battlesuits - Plasma Rifle, Flamer, Multi-Tracker - 57pts Troops Fire Warrior Team [10] - 2 W/ Carbine - 100pts Fire Warrior Team [10] - 2 W/ Carbine - 100pts Total = 399pts By changing the weapons on the Crisis Suits, I am able to add in a tasty Shas'el to add to the fire power.* The Blinding Spear Configuration given above is the perfect anti-infantry combo and since you are playing with a 400 point, infantry is going to be the majority of all armies. Also by splitting up the the two crisis suits into different units, they are able to put down the hammer on two seperate units as well as hide in cover more efficiently.* Although many people frown upon using Flamers on Crisis suits, I say that flamers are the perfect gift for anything with a BS of 3 or less!!!! (yes, I play guard as well, and flamers are pretty much essential!) Have fun and good luck with the campain-thingy!!!! |

Against Tyranids, Khanaris doubts anyone will fault you for using the flamer. Crispy like a poisonous chicken. Watch out for fleet-of-claw when you use it, though.

I cant really fault you for the flamer, hell its probaby one of the only matchups you'll use it in.
but I would mself give one squad the full half carb's and onefull rifles or find some points and switch one squad for Kroot, just to add some more options.

its not the best for balance but I was thinking of dopping one FW squad to 6 w/ carbs for mobility and having 20 kroot
its abit light on FW then though ![]()
