Just wanted to know which army everyone thinks is the deadlist to our Tau. (I only included the Deep Striking IG because of the battle report I read :P.)

well, IG isnt up there at all...
but i would say either eldar, or a cheesed out (and well played) GK list is pretty hard to beat... HARLEQUINS WILL BURN IN A CHEESY HELL FOREVER! >

For me, it`s Necrons.
Our limited access to Str8+ weaponry, our lack of CC, our non-Marine stats hurt here more than anywhere else. Against Tau, the Necrons just have to roll 4+. Sure, you can beat them (been there, done that), but not by killing them. You need to fulfill the mission (and you can definitely say "Goodbye" as soon as one or two squads of warriors have deployed at the mission objective...). |

Necrons give me the most trouble, especially seeing that the necron player I usually play always chooses a city table. I haven't lost, yet, but it takes a long time and is sometimes boring, I just use the city to cut off his fire lines and then concentrate on the few available units - soon a third of his force is gone and I can move with superior speed (go JSJ and skimmer in a city) and pull off the same trick.

So tyranids got forgotten yet you put Dark Eldar in? poor tyranids will never live that one down XD
But yeah for me as well its been the ncrons that have been the most trouble Not having an easy way to deny WBB rolls is a pain....

any army played by a skilled and experienced player is the most dangerous army, regardless of race..

I say Tyranids, because they're fast and get in CC very quickly. But they're not up there...

Necrons. Just a bad match-up, really. The strongest defenses in the game against an army that has few means to circumvent them. Necrons are a walkover for Tau if they take the Monolith, C'Tan, and otherwise load up on expensive choices, but a Warrior-heavy army can be a real challenge.

I also voted for Necrons. I think we have a great ability, with our Mech forces, to outmaneuver them, but nothing is worse than downing every warrior but one, and have 90% of them come back. The friend I play weekly has a Necron army, and the most experience he gets, the harder he is to beat.
I destroy IG though. Love them. |
